President Biden Dropping Out of Race

He should jump out from behind a door in her face and go “BOO!”

ETA: I was going to suggest a clue-by-four, but that would be advocating violence, so naw.

Yossarian: Ok, let me see if I’ve got this straight. In order to drop out, Biden has to admit his mental state is too poor to be President. But if Biden wants to drop out because the job is too much for him that means his mental state is fine and he can’t drop out.
PhillyGuy: You got it, that’s Catch-22.

That would be a lie. There is nothing wrong with his,“mental state.” I would assume that his physical stamina may be an issue. The real reason is that the circular firing squad left him little choice. If he’d stayed in the party and the media would have continued, “just asking questions.” He had to leave because all of that. I’m just glad it seems to be working well. I think Kamala Harris will be a great president.I’ll be proud to vote for her.

Right, he is exhausted and the covid didnt help.

I know that Breitbart is not a credible source, but I was alerted to this by a post on a right-wing message board:

From the item:

Jeez, and Trump doesn’t? What kind of reality do these people inhabit? Carrying on:

I’d like to say, “There are no words,” but the right-wingers on the message board are stating plenty of them. Mostly in agreement with Schweizer.

Every accusation is a confession with these guys. Guaranteed.

I got that and I’m half his age. Not sure what that says about me

Yes.

Endorsing Harris.(which wise Barack Obama has not yet done) also has that Catch 22. If Biden isn’t skilled enough to be the job at the highest level, why is he skilled enough to know who can do it at the highest level?

We’ll see how Joe Biden threads this strange needle tonight. I probably think it is more important than most others here.

< plays the SOTU Address backwards >

One of their own careful construction.

You are a well-informed individual.

:+1:t2:

47IF! :headstone:

He waited until August to endorse Biden- his own Veep. So this is expected.

Viral Video Of Joe Biden’s Address After He Opts Out Of US Presidential Race Is A Deepfake

Couple of possible reasons come to mind:
–He wants to wait until she’s the confirmed nominee before endorsing, to look as impartial as possible
–He wants to wait until she needs a boost in the narrative before endorsing, in case there’s some other news that needs to be drowned out
– He wants to wait until she chooses a VP
– He’s in favor of at least the appearance of other nominees being considered at the convention

I’m thinking #2 sounds the most likely. There’s no reason he wouldn’t endorse her. It wouldn’t really be jumping the gun, since the vast, vast majority of Democrats have already beaten him to it and she has in fact gotten enough delegate support to be the presumptive nominee.

Again, he always waits.

Obama takes the more traditional former president role. Stay above the fray and support the party’s nominee after they are officially chosen. I agree with that method.

I am looking forward to Biden’s speech tonight. I hope it is as classy as his letter when he stepped down. Meanwhile, still have One Last Time from Hamilton on repeat.

Bush endorsed McCain and Romney during the primaries, but don’t hold your breath waiting for Bush to endorse Trump.

Uh, because even if he’s old and has less stamina than ideal for the job, he’s a consummate politician and has excellent judgement.

Anyway, i thought he should drop out before the primaries, because he has a condition, “old age” that is progressive and might get suddenly worse. I think he’s still competent to do the job of president, which is largely about setting direction and negotiating. But it looks like he may no longer be competent to campaign, which requires a ton of stamina. And i think the one-two punch of a cold that wiped him out on debate day, followed by a mild case of covid, convinced him of that.

But as @DSeid said, he’s been completely transparent that he’s dropping out to give his party the best chance of winning, and not because he doesn’t feel competent to given. Personally, i really respect a man who can put the country ahead of his own ego. Way to go, Joe. You are stepping down with grace and i applaud you for it.

Biden was a freakin’ genius, in my opinion. He waited until the last minute, having the Republicans spending their money against him personally instead of focusing on the Democratic agenda, and making it next to impossible for anyone else but Harris to throw their hat into the ring. At the last possible minute he pulls the rug right from under the Republicans’ feet and throws his support behind Harris. The very campaign they used against Biden has to be dropped completely or be used against them, and I don’t thing the Democrats are going to cooperate much with dropping the “stumbling old man who seems confused” meme their enemies created.

Anyone watching Biden’s talk?

@Czarcasm, did you mean Biden?
