Neglecting to use the pronoun “I”,
This seems to be one of the weaknesses of Joe the President: politeness. This person deserved the response “Go Fuck Yourself.” Seriously, show some feeling, man.
People are saying that Lucas Tomlinson is fundamentally dishonest. I read that on the internet.
President Biden made a speech today denouncing violence in domestic affairs as unacceptable. It’s what rational people expect from a president and definitely within his repertoire. Of course it won’t have any effect on aggressive folks but I appreciate his taking on the mantle for sure.
Some of the interior decorations are too over-the-top for me, but what the hell, I wasn’t consulted: https://www.cnn.com/style/jill-biden-white-house-holiday-decorations/index.html
Yeah, that’s all a bit too “shopping mall Santa’s grotto” for my taste.
Voters now have a clear choice between the Bidens’ traditional Norman Rockwell-style Christmas and the Trumps’ Christmas in the ninth circle of Hell.
I like the Biden’s decorations. Christmas is the one time of the year when I suspend any “good taste” I usually employ, but I don’t find those decorations especially garish or over-the-top.
Classic and maybe a bit over the top, but still good.
I absolutely love them.
Melania’s Christmas in Nordic Hell series was, quite frankly, one of the few enjoyable things to come out of that administration.
Christmas is all so damn serious – she gave us something to laugh about.
Honestly I can easily see the White Witch from the The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe cruising down those halls in a sled loaded with suspiciously-flavored Turkish Delight.
And that’s not really an insult . I sorta like grim, foreboding Christmas.
Yeah, I’d take austere over twee, generally speaking.
The Ice Queen’s holiday party decor.
Well, well, well…

Amazing the amount of news coverage this is getting!

Interesting — thanks for sharing. Doesn’t fit the “Dems in disarray” narrative, so, as you implied, not getting much press.
Let’s not get complacent, nor read into into it too much…but multiple polls with similar results probably indicates a real trend (though not necessarily a long-lived one).
I wonder what’s driving this? Inflation has gone down, but that started months ago. Perhaps folks have finally internalized that prices will never be where they were a few years ago (that would require DEflation, a sign of an epic economic disaster). Now they’re used to the new level, and see how it’s pretty stable. (And employment is still great, and the stock market is back to doing well).
Maybe another factor is swing voters’ disappointment with non-Trump Republican candidates: DeSantis fizzling, Haley looking okay but she’s a woman (i still insist this was a key factor in Hillary’s loss), I know this shouldn’t have a direct effect on a Trump vs. Biden poll, but I think it can — a few folks might have said “Trump” before, half heartedly, waiting for a better Republican to show up, but now that hasn’t happened, and they think Joe might not be so bad after all.
Withdrawn for now
Someone on twitter cherry-picked what was at Five Thirty Eight.
The only way you get the Twitter/X result is to make the seven day period precisely November 21 - 27. If your week is either November 20 - 26, or November 21 - 28, you get Trump + 4 polls into the mix.
Looking at the rolling averages at RealClearPolitics, where they consider the most recent poll from the eleven organizations which have released a poll in the last three weeks, Biden has bounced up a smidgen from where he was a week or two ago. Whether these small ups and downs are more than statistical noise is anyone’s guess.
Is there some specific news outlet being attacked here?
Thanks for this info and analysis. That makes a LOT more sense. Indeed, I didn’t believe the Twitter summary could be entirely real (without manipulation like the cherry-picking you noted), which is why I struggled for explanations, neither of which would produce such a rapid shift.
So, it seems — if more polls in coming weeks confirm this — that Biden is no longer declining in head-to-head polls versus Trump. He’s in a slightly better place than a month ago, perhaps in part for the reasons I mentioned (especially the economic one). But he has NOT dramatically surged ahead.
(Regarding news outlets, some think that the New York Times (and possibly CNN?) overstates doom and gloom for the Democrats, and for Biden in particular. The article below is from 2014, when this was already a “cliche from long ago”.)
