I could imagine him addressing the nation from the White House to announce that Cryin’ Chuck Schumer and Lyin’ Nancy Pelosi have caved — that, after putting America through all of this for nothing, they’ve now agreed to end the shutdown by bankrolling a border wall — and that their offer is hereby accepted.
(No, I know they didn’t; but what the hell difference does that make? Has that ever stopped Trump from just, y’know, saying stuff?)

I can absolutely see this happening. The CNN quote above said, “President Donald Trump plans to offer Democrats another proposal to end the shutdown when he addresses the nation from the White House…” So he’s going to make the offer in public and either (1) attempt to shame them into accepting it (which will soooo **not **work), or as Waldo suggests (2) lie and say the Dems HAVE accepted it and when they say they haven’t, he will rant about obstruction blahblahblah.
Apparently it was so noteworthy that nobody wanted to note it.

With all my on-line games, Chinese movies, family, friends, day-dreaming, exercise, writing my sci-fi epic, trips to the chocolate store, teaching son to drive, re-reading General Relativity for Idiots for the 6th time, reading three half-finished novels, and gossip about our own (soon-to-be-postponed-again?) Parliamentary elections, I no longer have time to follow U.S. political news. :smack: Especially since Google News has pissed me off and I’m blocking it out of spite! 
Therefore my main — indeed almost my only — source of U.S. news is now … SDMB :eek:

There comes a time in a relationship when the disappointment just becomes too much. Seeing this thread start with optimism only to die 30 posts later with expressed disappointment in both hope and expectations makes me think many of even the most hopeful fans may be reaching this point with Dotard the Individual-1.
