WASHINGTON, Jan 18 (Reuters) - President Donald Trump said on Friday he will make a “major” announcement on Saturday at 3p.m. EST (2000 GMT) on “the humanitarian crisis on our southern border” and the partial government shutdown, now in its 28th day.
He will, on live TV, pull a revolver, try to point to his head, and shoot himself in the foot instead.
Who the hell knows. It’s impossible to predict what such a fundamentally irrational and unserious person will do.
I chose the “Admit he’s wrong…” option. It’s nice having all this solitude and elbow room. Besides, the voices in my head keep telling me to hope for the best.
I chose option #4 (keep the govt. shut down until he gets his wall), but I think declaring a national emergency is just as likely. In reality though, I agree with you… when someone is fundamentally irrational, who the fuck knows.
I’m kind of surprised there’s no “Lots of wild claims and lies about people invading us and how that justifies the shutdown, but fundamentally nothing new” nothingberder option.
Whatever it is, I don’t think he has decided yet. He’ll listen to Fox News speculating what the announcement will be, and choose one they seem to like.
This
With a sprinkling of this.
Didn’t he already do this?
He’s just going to repeat the same old horseshit, say some bad things about Chuck and Nancy, and not take any questions.
I voted national emergency, but I really think it may be incomprehensible and stupid. We may not understand it. At. All.
Your poll is missing an R. Bud Dwyer option.
(What? Too soon?)
ETA: Einstein’s Hund, I replied without reading the others. Your’s was better.
I could probably find my copy of “Hey,Man, Nice Shot” if the occasion arose.
It crossed my mind, and kept going. Besides, I saw Dwyer do it when they broadcasted it at the time.
I don’t think it’ll be anything special. Maybe just some “update” about drugs, smugglers, deportations, etc.
I think he’ll cave but of the choices I feel a limited time re-opening is the most likely.
I feel like he’s trying to build anticipation and tension, with the hopes he’ll attract trillions upon quadrillions of viewers. And then, once the camera’s on, he’ll continue to be completely unreasonable and demand Chuck and Nancy come to the WH and give in to his demands while blaming them for the lost paychecks and weak border. It’s all about publicity and attempting to control the coverage for him rather than actually being a leader.
I figure it’ll be either declaring a national emergency (in some fashion that violates multiple laws), or some kind of incoherent blathering. Or both.
You left out “He’ll blame Hillary for the lack of a wall.”
