Dear Friends; I watched a bit of the debate, last night, and I must admit, I’m confused. Here’s my problem. I am no longer living in the U.S, so I must admit, I don’t stay as current on political affairs as I should. Watching the debate, it seems that all it was was a “you’re-wrong-fest”. One of the candidates would spew forth a list of wonderful things he’s done, and the other would say…“you’re wrong” and go on to tell his side of the story. Here’s my problem: How does the “Average-Joe” know who’s actually telling the truth about their records, and all of the facts of any given point. They were on about health care, Veterens, etc. Obviously, the facts are availible if one were to research, but which of these “bozos” is telling the truth. I watched the debate as I’ve not seen Sen. Kerry actually speak before, so i wanted to see what he was like. I have never been a Bush supporter, so I wanted to see whom I would be voting for. For the record, in my 20+ years of voting, I have never voted for someone I liked I have had to vote against the other guy in hopes that said person wouldn’t get in. George W just doesn’t impress, but I hafta say I wasn’t all that keen on Kerry, either. My question is, how does one get the knowledge to see who’s the bigger bullshitter and/or who’s telling the truth.
That is all, Thank you for reading…
You can start with http://www.factcheck.org (as Dick Cheney attempted to recommend, heh heh).
If you have specific questions, you’re actually in a good place to ask them (except post them in GQ of course)
In response to your thread title, more than your OP…
Robert Wilson talked about the debates in 2000 as his favorite sit-com “The Two Lying Idiots Show”
Well, didn’t Bush say you can’t go quoting credible news sources…oh, uh, never mind! - Jinx
