All the living presidents (save George Bush the Elder*) went to Ted Kennedy’s funeral.
But oddly, I have not seen a photo of them together, which is sort of a tradition. Why not?

Bush Sr. probably had some other event he could not get out of.
He said GB the Lesser would represent his family.
Almost sounds like a family feud, but really, it can’t be easy for folks of that age to travel.
Not from the Kennedy funeral, but around the time of Obama’s election they all got together (including daddy Bush) for a formal portrait.
He and his son were at a Aircraft Carrier dedication a few months ago, I don’t think they’re having a spat.
He’s at an age when a lot of people stop traveling if they don’t have to, and given his age and the length of his public career, I would imagine that if he went to every funeral of important statesmen from his past, he’d basically be on a plane every few weeks.
Yeah, if you have to slog through the airport & stuff yourself into Economy Class. If you can afford to travel in luxury, it’s not so rough. Sounds like tacky behavior to me.
He would have been waiting in the heat for a considerable amount of time. It wasn’t a pleasant day to be old. If I remember correctly they had to shuttle Senator Byrd around to keep him from evaporating.
It was rainy and cool in Boston, where all the other Presidents were.
This ceremony was a Big Deal. GHWB has to be ailing.
He did go skydiving not more than a few months ago. I doubt that it is ill health. It seems that he didn’t feel the need to go with his son attending.

It was reported that he was ill and yes it was a really big deal to his constituents since he’d been in office for so long. He was a Senator, not a President.
So people who skydive develop special immune systems against disease? Sweet. Maybe that can be worked into the protocol for health care reform. Take one skydive in the morning before eating. Do not take with alcohol.
