Ferrari 330, either the GTO or the LMB.
My dad has that exact model. Same color and everything. I believe it’s the prettiest car I’ve ever seen.
Nothing prettier than a red 1970 Mustang Mach I.
Though I’m quite fond of boattail Rivieras, too.
Heh, I’ve been busy. I’ll also shock people by stating that the Tucker isn’t the most beautiful car ever. (Click the link in my sig to see one.)
To add to the ones that have been mentioned, I’ll add a 1937 Packard Super 8 Convertable and a 1953 Studebaker Coupe.
Shelby Cobra. Hands down, no buts about it.
Heres a picture
Then there is the Dodge Viper, but only the first design, the second sucks. Too tame, they smoothed it out so there aren’t as many curves. Damn them.
Lookie! Lookie!
I used to own a 1966 red Mustang like the one featured on this page. I never cared for the Shelby creations.
Another car that always turns my head is a 77-78 Corvette.
Small Clanger, good call on the Mercedes Gullwing, although you might want to be more specific. There was the regular production model for a few years (the 300 SL), and a coupe version of their sports racing car (the 300 SLR).
(The best picture I could find of the SLR is a model here.)
Other honorable mentions not yet honorably mentioned:
1955 Bentley S1 Continental (scroll to the bottom of the page.)
I vote for the Adam Westmobile.
I’ve always loved the '63 Split-Rear 'Vette, but I think the lines on the '67 427 Coupe are a little more refined and attractive. The differences are probably pretty minor and I can’t pinpoint what I like better about it, but I do.
No matter what, I’d be hard pressed to make a strong case that that car is sexier than the new exotics in alot of cases. I guess I’m a contemporary kinda guy. My most current lust is probably for the new Aston Martin V12 Vanquish. Sadly, their website doesn’t really do it justice with the derth of view angles available.
1958 Edsel. of course.
I give you the Citroen DS. Look at those big eyes. Isn’t she beautiful.
Labdad – a while back I asked about a weird, but beautiful car I saw while running along Lake Mich. I think it could have been the Talbot Lago you linked. In racing green.
XKE is right up there for me.
Duesenbergs and Cords are pretty tough to beat.
Along the same lines, this baby kinda catches my eye. this baby kinda catches my eye.
Boo boo – I agree your stang is awesome. But in my mind “beauty” tends to go more towards curves. And talking muscle, personally, I’m more of a Cutlass fan, vintage 72.
Have Shelby Cobra knock-offs become available recently? I ask because I saw 3 or 4 on local streets over a couple week period last year – don’t remember ever seeing one on the street before.
JR, thank yew.
That Lago is the epitome of Art Deco design. Wow is all I can say.
For American muscle, there is a Riviera, pre- boat wing, that I see every once in a while. It’s majestic and powerful and gorgeous.
I’ve done some lookin and it seems to be a 66 or a 65 custom. Rrrowwr. essvee want.
Dinsdale, according to a blurb from the 2001 Pebble Beach Concours D’Elegance, there are only 9 of those '37 “Tear Drop” Talbot Lagos in the world! If one of them is near enough to you to see in person, you’re quite fortunate. A couple more shots of the one the one that took place at the 2001 Pebble Beach show are here and here.
If the car I saw wasn’t the teardrop TL, I have never seen a photo of anything closer.
Major features I recall were the outrageously bulbous fenders, the rear descending in a single curve, the rear opening doors, and the oval grill.
It was parked right next to Burnham Harbor, where the Chicago swells moor their yachts. Tho I have only seen this car once, I have seen other “olden” cars in the same general area. Maybe a boat owner is a collector?
I’m kind of biased because I own one but I vote for a red 1966 GTO.
gasp I wanna change my vote. That GTO is HOT!!!
AC Cobra
A cute little car with a monster engine
