Prime Day 2019 - what’d ya get?

Our coffee maker broke, Three days before we get packed up for a cross country move:eek:. So a bought an upgrade on a Kurig.

A couple of memory cards for the camera because I’m undisciplined about downloading photos and putting the cards in a “ready to use” box. As a result, I’m gravitating towards a model where the memory cards serve as kind of tertiary backup storage. When a 32 GB card costs $13.00 and holds 1,000 pictures, that’s not an unacceptable model. At least for those of us who remember when $13.00 wouldn’t buy film and printing for 36 photos.

But memory cards are always going on sale, so, in general, Amazon’s made up sale festival has been no big deal.

The gift card – thanks for the heads-up on that. And a router to replace my 15-year old Netgear workhorse. I’ll keep it around as a backup, but it’s time for something that handles newer protocols and has dual band.

Well, I was finally ready to pull the trigger and purchase the toilet seat bidet I’ve been eyeing for nearly a year. Have been price-shopping month to month, waiting for some real, uh, movement.

I did a Google search for the correct make/model and woo! Amazon pops up with an astonishing price! Even better, if I sign up for a trial Prime membership, I can save an additional 20%! Hot diggity, sez I! The stars are finally aligning my way!

I place the item in my cart. I carefully read the terms and conditions of Prime membership searching mostly for how to cancel it, since I can’t really take enough advantage of the goodies to make it worth my while (whole 'nother story). All looks fine.

My finger is about to tap the final purchase button when I take a closer squiz at the item in my cart. It is not the model I want. It’s close, the numbers look nearly the same, but it is not the right one.

I check to see if I can replace the item in my cart with the correct one. No sale, no 20% Prime savings, no nuttin’.

Delete, cancel, tickle to cancel Prime membership in 29 days.

<sigh>

I didn’t even know about it until my laptop hard drive died tonight. Went to Amazon to find out it was Prime Day and saved $30 on a new hard drive. Win!

A new hair dryer. Mine quit blowing hot air on Sunday. Drying my hair with cold air results in a strange combination of flat and frizzy. Amazon had a similar model to my recently deceased dryer at what seemed like a good price already but once I put it in my cart it came up nine dollars cheaper still.

What I usually get from Amazon; not a damn thing. Though I did tell someone else to buy something on sale.

Beats headphones for 139.99
A 2tb external he for around 40
The complete Get Smart and Married w Children for around 25

You got all ten seasons of Married w Children for 25?

I stand corrected. $29.99 for all 10 seasons of MWC and $15 for GS. Still excellent deals imo.

Yes, that’s a great price. *going to order

Game of Thrones, Season 1 has dropped to $4.99. This is to buy, not to rent, the entire season.

Later seasons are $11.99.

I went a little nuts. I bought new Samsung tablet, a mattress, and a bunch of little crap like vitamins. I had $10 off for trying Amazon Assistant as well as the 6% on my Prime CC. I feel like I cleaned up. I forgot to look at movies, though.

ETA: I also managed to score a Bag of Crap on Woot!

I had a new laptop picked out and it went on sale. Glad i waited and saved $80. I also bought two of the new 16 gb 7" fire tablets for $50. That’s 50% off. Didn’t know about the gift card, but it’s not too late I hope.

My beloved Kindle (Gen 3) that I’ve had for almost 7 years crapped out a couple of weeks ago. I did a live chat with Amazon to see if there was anything they could do for me. She said they would give me a 15% discount on a new Paperwhite or Oasis. At the time I didn’t want to spend the money. The lightbulb went off yesterday that it was Prime Day. The Paperwhite was normally $129.99. It was on sale for $89.99, I had the 15% discount and I had approx $45 in rewards saved up. When all was said and done, I paid $22 for a new Paperwhite!!

That’s what the spirit of Prime Day is all about

So I got an Amazon gift cert. from the local paper for filling out a survey a while back.

The code came today.

The survey was a couple weeks ago at least. They couldn’t send them out sooner?

FYI the promotional $5 credit we got for buying gift cards expires Sept 1, 2019 :o

I got an ice cream maker for 60% off. It is one with its own compressor so you don’t have to use ice or freeze an inner sleeve or anything… just turn it on, add the ingredients and it makes ice cream.

Still stupid expensive but since I spent less than what I saved I actually made money… right? (ok, I’m a food gadget geek and it was this or an outdoor pizza oven. My birthday present to myself.)

Kindle Paperwhite for ~$80, which is about half off. I have one already, but the newer version is waterproof, so better for taking on vacation.

Kindle Fire 7 for $30, normally $50. My mom wanted it.

Amazon Portal for $80, which is half off. Hopefully this will improve our video chats with my daughter and new granddaughter.
