Almost from the moment we met, my then-girlfriend/now-wife has called me “Pooh” (as in “Winnie the -”). This has evolved into a number of variations, e.g. Poohpah, Poohpahs, etc. She also makes up little ditties that she sings to me, usually rhyming words to Poohpah (Poohpah Dupah, Poohpah Snoopah, etc.)
During a discussion of something (fast food? bad commercials?) “chalupas” came up. A connection was made.
…and a screen name was born.
One of the first thing I ever started to draw were Beetle Bailey Cartoons. That was in elementary school. Don’t know why that came to mind when I started needing usernames…but it did. The 99 comes from needing to make it unique. The name has aquired a meaningful history for me ever since I used it in the ABC Monday Night Football Computer football tournament and won a trip to San Diego for the Superbowl and $10,000…
“Hey is that the legendary Beetle99 ABC Monday Night Football champion?”
“Huh? ABC what? Never heard of that game…”
“Oh it was discontinued…but it did exist once…and he was the very best to ever play it…”
“ah great…whatever…”
punoqllads - that’s brilliant! Makes mine look boring…
I am called Fiona IRL & I wanted something similar (if I ever get to a doper gathering & someone says hey, fierra, I’ll probably listen automatically because it’s similar, IRL people call me Fi for short (said fee, not fie like shakespeare), so I tend to notice that sound) & I liked the sound of it…
I’ve been flurry in one online game I play, but since coming here, I’m Fierra everywhere online. I nearly introduced myself as Fierra to someone the other day - D’Oh!
Mailman! Welcome to the boards.
Ivar is my first name, which I don’t actually use. I go by my middle name. Although my close friends think that Ivar is such a funny name that they call me that sometimes, so…
Mine comes from what I hear is a really bad Olivia Newton-
John movie. I’ve never seen it, though.
