I’ve updated Roxio EZCD Creator and Windows XP Pro with all the latest patches. When a music CD is showing 99% completion, instead of completing, it spins up the CD forever, never finishing. Sometimes I can hit the eject button on the CD drive to eject the disc - then the program responds. Sometimes hitting the eject button does nothing, and there isn’t any way to stop it through the software, I need to do a hard power-off. The CD is always burned properly, as far as I can tell - no coasters yet - but this is extremely annoying.
Auto-insert notification has been known to cause this problem but perhaps not in your case. Look thru the other trouble shooting sections in the CDR FAQ to see if anything else could explain it.
Like how? You know XP uses its own version of Roxio. Thus, you don’t want to put on another version of Roxio or you over write Xp’s Roxio’s files or so I read.
Ignore this, since it’s complete nonsense. If any of you out there want to make sure you’ve got the latest version of Roxio, just go to their software updates page, where you can download the latest updates for whichever version of Roxio you have on your PC.

Sorry, handy, but your post implied that every copy of Windows XP comes with some special, unique version of Roxio. That’s just not true. Like any other non-Microsoft application that’s been around for a while, it had to be updated to operate properly under Windows XP. So, version 5.02b and earlier wouldn’t operate properly under XP.
There is nothing strange or unusual about this. And the advice remains the same: if you’ve got Roxio on your PC, you can, without any trepidation, go to the Roxio website and download an upgrade. It won’t “overwrite” some better version that’s already on your PC. Now, if you’ve got version 4.x, it won’t work under XP. If you download an update for version 4.x, it still won’t work under XP. You’ll be no worse off, nor will you be better off. If, on the other hand, you’ve got version 5.x, downloading the update from Roxio can only improve the situation - it can’t possibly make it worse.
