Problem with Firefox update?

I’ve tried google and the Mozilla help site but without any result.

Problem is I updated Firefox to the latest version and now it won’t accept any input, by this I mean if I type a URL in the address window and press enter or try to load it nothing happens. The same thing happens if I enter text into the google search window, I press enter and it just disappears but nothing loads.

Any help appreciated, I prefer the layout and look of the text in Firefox over other browsers but at the moment its unusable.

Thanks!

Firstly, have you tried rebooting? That tends to fix a lot of issues.
Otherwise, it sounds like the upgrade got corrupted at some point. It might be worth downloading the latest version and reinstalling it, that should fix it.

Also disable or remove

  • search engines (drop down menu at the search text entry bar has “setup search engines”)
  • Plugins, addons and extensions… Go to Tools menu, addons… and they are all in the menus there.

Or remove firefox and reinstall. Your settings will remain in place

It actually happened after I rebooted my PC for the latest Adobe Acrobat update to install, it was working fine before that. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling the latest version without success, but an older version works OK.

I’ll try rebooting the entire computer again, thanks.

I’ve tried running it in safe mode with the same result, and also installing and reinstalling without effect.

Its all very odd and its not the first time I’ve had problems with Firefox.

Thanks for your suggestions!

Update on the update, a complete uninstall and reboot seems to have solved the problem.

Thanks guys!

I find that Firefox and Adobi acrobat are always arguing!
Try deleting agrobat from the control panel, then install a new copy of Firefox. See if that works, then re install acrobat.

Yeah looks like Acrobat was causing the problem, thanks Seren!
