Is it a talent contest or a charity? Tell a sob story and you get a pass. It’s sad the girls have cystic fibrosis but are they even close to being in the top of the singers? There are plenty of other act because the fans or judges vote because of the backstory rather than actual talent.
Singers have won every year except Terry Fator. Have any of them had any success. Isn’t it a coincidence that the only non-singer is the only winner making money?
At what point do the voters and/or fan stop looking at great 2 min snippits and instead what acts they would pay for and watch for 90 min.

But just think about how many singers in the business can’t sing well. Look at Britney Spears. Oh she can hold a tune, and she isn’t horrible, but she’s average. Like I said she can sing and hold a tune, but there’s nothing special about her voice. It’s average.
How many other singers can sing MUCH better than her but are far less successful.
How many great actors never really make it? It’s not just about talent, it’s a combination of a lot of things.
People like to root for the underdog. On this show that’s what makes it a hit. That’s why people watch, because they identify. They know they can’t sound like Mariah Carey but if an average person can win on a show like they can, maybe they could to.
This ability to identify is what the viewers like.
Have any of the singers who have won actually gotten a recording contract? That could be why none of them are making money. Unlike American Idol, on AGT, you don’t get a record deal out of it.
