Problems with Internet Explorer 8

I have been using IE8 for a little while with no problem, but an issue which keeps coming up is really starting to annoy me. I’ve tried searching elsewhere for an answer, but no luck.

The problem is that some tabs will just stall in loading the page. I seem to have no problem opening two tabs, but it’s often the 3rd tab that will stall, but then a 4th tab will be fine, then a 5th tab will stall, etc etc. Unfortunately, the behaviour is somewhat erratic and not strictly defined to how I’ve just described it.

Hopefully somebody out there in Doperland will be able to decipher my feeble explanation.

BTW, for those who feel the need to point out to me that IE is a useless POS, don’t bother. I’ve used other browsers before and despite some of its problems, IE is right for me.

Some more information would be useful:

[li]What OS is it?[/li][li]What type of computer (laptop, etc.)[/li][li]What type of Internet connection (DSL, cable, etc.)?[/li][li]How much RAM do you have?[/li][li]What processor do you have?[/li][li]Did this ever happen with previous versions of IE?[/li][li]Are you experiencing slowness anywhere else on your system?[/li][/ol]

Also, do the same sites hang every time, or is it just random?

IE8 is beta software, not a finished product. It would be better to report this issue to Microsoft because there might not actually be a solution to the problem - you might be the first person to discover it!

What OS is it?
XP Pro

What type of computer (laptop, etc.)
It’s a fairly old desktop that I’ve recently re-formatted and re-installed.

What type of Internet connection (DSL, cable, etc.)?
ADSL2+ (I connect at approx 13mb)

How much RAM do you have?
3gb

What processor do you have?
P4 2.6GHz

Did this ever happen with previous versions of IE?
Not that I can remember.

Are you experiencing slowness anywhere else on your system?
Nope.

It is fairly random, but if there is a pattern, it seems to be after I’ve been surfing the net for a little while before the problem crops up. If I close all pages and then start again, I go through the same process.

I’ve tried clearing the cache, history, rebooting the router etc, but still having the same issue.

Yeah I thought about that, but I’ve tried Microsoft’s help pages and the problem I’m experiencing doesn’t seem to be described, plus I’m not sure how I go about submitting this new problem. It doesn’t help either that the behaviour is hard to describe.

Well, your computer is a pretty robust one, so I expect it’s just IE 8. Submit the problem anyway. Describe it in as much detail as you can. I assume you’ve googled stuff related to it.
