Product that I'm trying to find what it's called

Recently went to NYC. Was browsing around in Chinatown, and found this really cool product. Now I don’t even know what it’s called in English. However I’m trying to explain what exactly it is to a listserv. I can’t find any links b/c I don’t even know what its called in English.
It’s this sheet of adhesive fake “furry” stuff, that you can cut out and attach to things like cell phones, Ipods etc. The package label does not have any info in English on it. Can anyone help?

Is it purely decorative or does the furry stuff have some funtion?

Are the “hairs” short like velvet, or long like a cat’s?

Velcro?

Is it in different colors? A pattern?

Moleskin maybe.

What kind of store was it? I’m guessing you found a wikipedia.org/merkin

Hahahahahaha…nope, it wasn’t a sex shop. The store was a gift store in Chinatown. It also wasn’t moleskin. The stuff is one sheet, and comes in diffrent patterns. The ones I bought are leopard print. The “fur” is more “fuzzy”
On the back of the package there’s different examples of how you can use it. Like a phot frame, cover your cell phone (that’s what I did) and something to do with pens, and even using it as a faux manicure.

Doh! D: Little warning about non-worksafe-ness would be good for the uneducated like myself.

Sorry about that, I thought that most dopers knew about them, here is a work safe educational site.

I believe the fuzzy stuff you’re looking for is called flocking, or more specifically self-adhesive flock. Here’s a link to a scrapbook supplier that has some in bright colors.

Maybe…but then again why haven’t I seen it in the US which is Scrapbook Central? The stuff I bought doesn’t seem to be along the lines of Precious Moments…or hometown Scrapbook fever. More like a fashion accessory. Can you maybe find a picture for me that actually SHOWS the patterns?

Funky Fur?

Maybe…but they also had non-animal prints too…

Sounds like a glorified form of contact paper to me…that stuff people use to line shelves.

42Geek, you’re looking in the wrong place. Google some custom motorcycle shops! Or call around to some. This stuff was very popular on street bikes a few years ago. I dont know what it’s called. But if you start googling for “Street Bike body kits fur” you’ll find it. It comes in huges sheets to cut and customize.

Where’s Bobby Trendy when you need him?
