You’re welcome! I have found the most obscure things for my husband on line (a two-inch hole-less grommet for his hot rod comes to mind), so I figured it was worth a try. Though I must say the concept of a tape store kinda cracks me up!
If it’s the USB with one regular end for the computer and one small end for the phone, they use the same once for digital cameras. I didn’t need to buy one because my camera came with one so I was lucky. Staples has one for $19.
Maybe it’s a NJ thing Hal. I can never find Pepsi One. I’ve even bugged the manager about it. Do they not order enough? Does it sell out? They never seem to have it. The only time I can find a bottle or two is when it’s not on sale.
It really bugs me because it’s one of the only diet soda’s that I like.
I have a window that was difficult to treat. (window treatments, get it?) I went to a fabric store, bought the fabric, then took it to a dry cleaner that does alterations/etc. I gave her the measurements and a little sketch and viola`, curtains!
Sattua, how about making a wooden elevation in your shelves, one book deep, about half a books height? It would be just two wooden planks fastended together like an |[sup]_[/sup]
That way, you can put double the amount of novels in a standard bookshelf, and still see most of the titles. My father in law has this, and it looks really neat.
hmm…
Diceman, you could also try a bead shop. I’m sure Detroit must have a bunch of them. They sell all kinds of cordage by the foot; I’m guessing you’ve got waxed cotton, which is pretty inexpensive. I bet you could even sweet-talk the girl behind the counter into putting a clasp on it for you. Couple of bucks tops.
I am beginning to think that chocolate-covered ginger Altoids exist only in legend. Even the Altoids website doesn’t list them, but I hear Dopers - who, evidently, live in Fairyland - talking about how delicious they are all the time.
I want my sweet sweet fairy candy, dammit!
Your know, you could’ve gone to a 99 Cents store and just bought a $1.50 pair of cheap ear buds that includes the earmuffs. (And could’ve thrown away the cheap earphones in front of the cashier.)
But those things aways come off and get lost anyway. I don’t even bother to use them.
Same thing here. All I ever see besides peppermint is cinnamon.
Sattua - I hate those bookcases! You’d think someone, somewhere would realize the need for paperback bookshelves but no luck. I ended up finding a place that could cut wood for me, bought a 4’x8’x3/4" bit of plywood, gave them my plan, took the pieces home and made my own!
However, I’ve since discovered that DVD shelves work really well for paperbacks (that’s the thing sitting on top of my bookcase - a little two shelf dealie from IKEA). I’ve seen ones similar to this on sale a few times at local media stores.
Those are regulated by the Illuminati. Get in good with them, and you’ll get your fairy candy.
This one does.
All of my local groceries are lousy with them in every checkout line. If you can lay your hands on some cans of fake salisbury steaks we could talk trade.
::: bookmarks the link to the frame store from up-thread with plans of purchasing on my next payday :::
Would this work?
Oh, what timing. I was thinking of starting a Pit thread about mine.
Bloody boot laces. Simple nylon 12-eyelet-length laces. Why can’t you find these things just about anywhere?
Army/Navy? Nope.
Shoe stores? Nah.
Hot Topic - Where they sell Goddam boots? NO!
What in Hell do I have to do to get some stinkin’ boot laces? I searched for so long I can’t even wear the boots anymore because the original laces will snap if I try to tie them.
If I’m reduced to the Internet to search for worthless nylon boot laces I’m going to flip out.
Have you tried a shoe repair shop?
It’s a bedside table, but if the wood matches what you’re looking for, it could work. I think you could get away without putting the door on, too, if you don’t want it (though there might be some premade holes on the inside that you’d be able to see.
As for a coffee table, we were looking for something long and narrow, and ended up buying this shoe rack . One side is slightly less accessible on the top than the other due to a support beam, but it is evenly stained on all sides and works great for us. All the cubby holes are great in an apartment - somewhere to put the phone book, magazines, a couple baskets of things you need all the time (pens, paper, batteries, remote controls, etc).
Right now I can’t think of anything I need and can’t find, but I have an odd urge to go to Ikea and just see what I come home with (life is evil… I work 5 minutes from Ikea!)
Thanks, but those are too small…the largest one is only 6 oz. I want to use it for what is essentially Windex, so I need something that’s about 32 fl oz.
The cards for the 90’s edition of Trivial Pursuit. I haven’t checked in a couple of months, but the last time I did, nowhere to be found!
Thai Chili flavored tuna- I found this about a year ago and once in a while I find it again but never when I really want it.
For all the coffee table searchers, this is what we have in our tiny apartment (the larger one). It’s a really sturdy piece of furniture (it withstands constant beatings with matchbox cars), plus it provides extra storage. We keep all our pictures, mementos, keepsakes, etc. in there.
