Products You Recently Tried, Had High Expectations For, And (Dis)liked

I really like Poland Spring Sparkling Water. They definitely have a hint of a fruit taste but don’t taste flavored. Triple Berry is my fave. I stopped drinking Coke and went to those instead. Trader Joe’s brand is also good.

I’ve been on a magic kick lately and have bought a lot of magic downloads, some of which turned out to be deceptive utter crap. They only average about $10 a piece though so I don’t grouse too much.

I don’t think I’ve ever had Bubly. I’ve had LaCroix plenty of times, and it is indeed accurately described as homeopathically flavored.

Except for the grapefruit-flavored stuff, which is (to me) disgusting. But my wife likes it, so there’s always some around.

Me, my favorite soda is plain seltzer. I like it better than any of the flavored seltzers, and more than any carbonated soft drink. I go through between four to six cans a day. I’m not especially picky about brand, except for unflavored LaCroix. It’s much less carbonated than any other brand I’ve tried, and what carbonation there is disappears within ten to fifteen minutes.

We have a modified sodastream. My latest “thing” is adding thinly sliced cucumber to our water.

I will try that!

Rats. I can’t find any lemon-lime. All local sources are out of stock. I can find their blood orange drink, though. Have you ever tried that flavor?

Customers ony!!!

I’ve tried a couple of different WiFi boosters/extenders, with either no effect or poorer coverage.

Hah! Never saw the show, but I researched what you said and discovered the reference. A friend of mine opened a trendy little bistro that makes cool cocktails. He serves cucumber water as a freebie, which led me to trying it.

Yes! I’ve been adding bitters to LaCroix water. Really adds an umami note to the flavor. I bought a few different brands/flavors to get through the pandemic.

In fact, once I made an Incredibly Weak Old-Fashioned with LaCroix Orange… with a dollop of Squirt, lots of bitters*, and a splash of brandy for flavor. Yes, I muddled a cherry and some orange peel in there…

*(Angostura, that time; still my favorite)

Yeah, I find cucumber very refreshing.

Try an Orbi with an (or more than one) extra satellite. I’ve had good luck with my two-Orbi setup

No, but I will look for it. thanks.

You can order it from Amazon.

Except you apparently have to buy their router first, and I’m limited in this area to the one supplied by my phone carrier.

The orbi is the router. You can change the settings on your base orbi to disable DHCP and let the phone router do that part, then plug it into the phone router, then all your other devices connect to the orbi (+optional satellite). I’m using an Orbi with my fiber router, though I no longer need the satellite in my new house.

Thanks.

Oh, I forgot: set up the orbi + satellite first. Then disable orbi DHCP, because once that gets disabled the orbi no longer has an IP address and you can’t configure it. If you’re not using a satellite, then ignore this as there is no additional orbi setup.

My microwave oven is an under-the-counter drawer type. When I bought the house, I was skeptical, but I’ve had to admit, it works pretty well.

huh. under the counter. Never seen one. I’m skeptical of the ones built into the range hood. Would worry that my 5 foot something wife could get a face full of very, very hot food.

On this soda theme, I love rootbeer, and one of my favorites has been Virgil’s, but I only get it on special occasions partially because of the price but also because of the calories (I mostly drink diet.) So I was overjoyed on my last birthday to see diet virgil’s rootbeer for sale. Brought it home only to find that stevia has an absolutely horrible aftertaste. Worst rootbeer I’ve ever had.

My daughter has one in her new house-it is lovely. Easier and safer putting things in and taking them out. The over the stove ones give me the willies.
