Project Runway 1/18

Tim on Ice was the cutest thing I’ve ever seen in my whole entire life! Oh my goodness!

I almost threw my drink at the TV when Santino didn’t get eliminated, again. Of course, that was entirely what I was supposed to do, right? But grr! He did tone his personal attitude down this week, at least. He even enjoyed the skating! Last week his nasty comments to Michael Kors were just unacceptable.

Zulema’s outfit was far, far too naked, IMHO. I don’t understand why Emmett’s was “vulgar” but hers wasn’t. I knew Emmett was never going to make it to the final three (and if I heard him say “blah blah menswear” again…) but he seemed like a nice guy and a good sport, and I’m sorry to see him go.

And what was with having Rob from last season show up as the delivery guy? What point did that serve?

I honestly thought the clip in the commercial was referring to Zulema’s outfit once I saw her design. I was shocked when the judge aimed her “vulgar tooty” comments at Emmett. Who says that anyway? Tooty? She might as well had just said “hoohah” as it would have sounded slightly less ridiculous.

I loved Santino’s first two outfits but that skate dre…outfi…thing looked like he’d blindfolded 10 5-year-olds and gave them shreds of construction paper and glue sticks and let them go hog-wild on the back of that skirt. We never actually saw him working on that part, maybe that’s what he actually did?

Oh, and forgot to add-won’t it be awesome to see Jay go off on Santino? I really, really hope that’s who he’s riffing on in the commercials.

I guess it was supposed to be like last season’s episode where they all go the Post Office costume packages.

I’ll second this notion. I’ve read an interview with him and he does have a big ego, but he’s not a total ass all the time. He is snarky; but also funny. And he does mention that the show is “well edited”. The extra clips on the Bravo website do make him more sympathetic. He is creative and original; but needs to learn to rein it in sometimes. His skating outfit was almost nice from the front. It was only the back that sent it spiralling out of control. His model warned him. Tim warned him. Hell, he even warned himself predicting the judges would say it looked like a baboon’s ass exploded on the back.

I actually completely disagree with this. I think it would look outstanding on a skater while she is skating, a real snese of movement and nergy. But I don’t think it would work for a competition, I think it is defintely a skating exhibition only outfit.

My girlfriend loves Santino. I just kind of say, 'Uh, yeah, he’s great."

I wonder if Santino when not under a time limit might be less likely to go nuts on the embellishment and such? Maybe if he didn’t feel so rushed he would be much better at self-criticism? Because his designs are definately getting nuttier as we go along. In the beginning I thought he was a shoo-in, this season’s Kara Saun. His designs are getting worse and worse, though (although I can’t really imagine anything worse than the lingerie thing - that was a real WTF moment all around.)

I’m sure this a really stupid question. What is a “walkoff”?

I think it’s because Zulema gets to decide to either keep the model she has been working with, or choose to switch to any of the other models that are still on. Apparently, she’s going to have all the models walk down the runway so she can decide among them. From the previews,

they made it look as if she is going to take Nick’s model away from him.

They walk. Down the runway. Showing off how they, um, walk. Almost depressingly inane.

Thank you h.sapiens and Liberal. I was thinking it was something far more exciting.

I think it was just a nod to the fact that he was eliminated during the Postal Service uniform challenge, and as he left, he turned to the Postal Service judge and asked if they were hiring. Just an ‘in-joke.’
