My money is on Kara or Santino being ousted tonight.
We’ve been baffled that Kara has survived, but she certainly seems to be a shoe-in for “Most Improved”. I think she’s just been able to focus more and more as the drama and distractions have dwindled along with the warm bodies with each outing. Case in point: being successful in her make-over of Santino last week, even though it meant having to work with him.
Even though I don’t like Kara much, I hope that she makes it into the top 3 instead of Santino. Santino has gotten far too arrogant and annoying the past few episodes. He’s so out.
I get the idea from the previews that they will be designing for a celebrity. If the celebrity gets to choose the winner and chooses either Kara or Santino, the other will be auffed for sure. If Chloe or Daniel win, they will probably keep Santino just to see how much his Fashion Week models end up resembling the cast of Sesame Street.
I interpreted that as clearly expressive of Santino’s point of view, like an editorial article. She also later elaborated that such pieces sometimes make “fabulous covers”.
I agree that Santino’s was too much, which is why he didn’t win even though Iman thought his made more of a statement than any of the others’. I thought that Daniel should have added just a little bit more-- like those orchids from the garden party challenge. Having something bold, elegant, and beautiful around one side of the neck down into the bodice a little would have really brought Daniel’s otherwise plain but gorgeous dress into the forefront.
What on earth did Kara mean when she said she wanted to show the judges a “blank canvas”? Was that just covering for her ultra-plain design? Honestly, I thought all the dresses (except Santino’s) were very nice, but Santino can’t be eliminated for being ugly/interesting when the judges spent all their time criticizing the others for being okay-looking/boring. At least Daniel’s was beautiful/boring.
Chloe’s-- well, I’m loath to quote Michael Kors, who is beginning to seriously annoy me, but it was indeed underwhelming. I’m not sure whether Chloe was any better than Kara here, but this dress really did reflect Chloe, whereas Kara’s didn’t really reflect what Kara said about her aesthetic.
Nick would have rocked this challenge. (Sigh)
So all 4 of the designers made collections and presented them at fashion week, because they didn’t want to give away which was being eliminated. I read that Kara actually did a nice job with her sportswear collection, better than Chloe did with her collection. I hope she gets some recognition for her performance. It would be awful for her to have put in all that work with no hope of a payoff.
A just result. Kara never won a challenge. Nada. Zilch. And can anyone claim that she ever deserved to win one?
Like Santino or not, his dress was pretty nicely made.
I thought Daniel’s dress was highly competent, maybe not world-changing, but very nice work.
Chloe’s and Kara’s both sucked, frankly. I think it might have been a producer-led selection to auf Kara (based on the no wins heretofore factor), but that’s fair in my eyes.
Kara should have been out with the shitty police line dress. She never made anything good, so good riddance.
How does the judging work in Fashion Week? Are three culled to two, or is a winner just picked from the three. I didn’t watch last season.
BTW, they showed that party, and is Austin that weird transvestite? God, what a freak.
Blonde, probably wearing lipstick and a scarf? If so, that’s him. I went to the kitchen during the party so I missed it – was he really over the top? I don’t recall him coming across like that when he was on the show. Think what you will but boy-o-boy can that man design a dress. I am still wondering how he didn’t get to the final three and that crappy Wendy did last season. Being more hourglass than stick straight model, myself, I would kill for him to design for me.
There were a couple of photos from the PROJECT RUNWAY shows in the Milwaukee paper the other day. The bigger photo was of Santino’s collection. . . and it didn’t suck! It was totally different from the crap he’s been foisting on us all series long. His dresses looked very simple and elegant.
The smaller photo was of something Kara Janx did. It was colorful, but peculiar.
HATE Santino. HATE HATE HATE. He should have been out on the hideous turkey skating dress, or that awful falling-apart jumpsuit. I am convinced the producers feel they need to keep the one “drama” person to the final three. That said, Kara should have been out before Andrea or Nick.
I’ve seen all four of the collections that showed at Fashion Week (Kara’s was the decoy as we now know)…Kara’s was actually the coolest. And Santino’s was nothing like his showing all season. I’m pretty certain this was all manufactured drama a la the Pepper.
Fun episode last night. I had been starting to come around on Santino (I did miss last week’s ep), but last night made him look like a complete ass. I know some of it is editing, but then again, only an asshole would say some of the stuff he did, in any conext. And once again, he went too far with his dress. The man can’t seem to stop himself – he simply must use all the fabric at his disposal.
I don’t understand Kara. She didn’t deserve to get as far as she did, but not because of execution so much as confidence. She just never owned her own perspective on anything, and the judges were spot-on that the dress she wore for the runway show was much more interesting than the one she designed for the challenge. She just seemed to keep designing for what she thought other people wanted, rather than what she herself wanted to design. Weird.
I was surprised all of them (except Chloe, of course) picked Chloe to go home. Was it because she said she wasn’t sure she wanted to go to Fashion Week? Hmm. Her dress was very Chloe, but not put together well. A dress with that cut would only look passable on a stick. Anyone with any butt whatsoever would look gargantuan.
And lovely Daniel, with his lovely but boring dress. Ahhhh. I don’t like navy for anything, and totally agree with Zahava424that he should have added something splashy to make it more interesting.
It was good to see Austin again. Flamboyant as ever, but a sweet person and hell of a dress designer.
I hate to side with Santino at this point on anything, but at least his dress looked like fashion. Until they brought out Iman later in the challenge, this was evidently supposed to be purely couture, right? The other dresses really were just so boring! I mean, I might have worn any of them, but I’m a consumer who very rarely sometimes might make it up to bridgewear. I am not the target audience for what they’re supposed to be making here!
The thing that bothered me last night was Michael Kors’s comment about Santino trying to show the judges that he’s smarter than they are, blah, blah, blah.
And what he said was true. But the judges kept rewarding him for it. He threw crap at them week after week after week after week, and they didn’t do anything. So, why should he change when there’s no consequence for him if he doesn’t? And how dare they complain about it.
