Project Runway 13

Tonight was awful. This show has totally gone downhill. These people simply don’t have any talent.

I guess Kini’s soccer ball dress was okay but the rest of it was just a hot mess. I thought the other two looks by Amanda and Kini were boring and funny looking. Mondo would have done those high-waisted pants far better.

I hated the looks Char and Whatisface sent down. That hideous quilted jacket looked like something my mom would have made in the 1970’s. And who hell wants a revival of the hobble skirt? Ugly as fuck.

The stuff that Emily and Korina sent down were also pure suckage. Although I did like that sweater – so sue me Nina. It looked cozy and warm. But the green and red outfit was Pocahontas does punk from Peru and the one next to it was Crazy Cat Lady finds a couch and a dumpster. Weird.

And then the judges don’t have the damned guts to auf Char so they concoct that bullshit challenge. I don’t blame Korina for being upset. Just how many chances does Anya II get? Is she going to win this season?

Ding dong, the bitch is dead! I thought I had seen some entitled, self-deluded bitches on PR before, but Korina takes the proverbial cake.

I loved Amanda’s use of the painting. It was smart of her to see the potential in the colors.

The last two dresses were about even. I liked Char’s better personally, but there’s nothing “wow” or original about it. I think Korina might have won if she had kept her crazy bitchy mouth shut. Plus, trashing other contestants on on the runway… That you you do not do.

Ugh. A Caribbean photographer goes to Finland?! They were all messes.

I agree that Korina ultimately is a better designer (and Char’s final challenge looked good in large part because of Sean) but she is poisonous. Emily is right – her anger showed in her dress. I was about to say I don’t like Char’s work but I like her attitude, but then at one point she was criticizing another person’s designs and I thought “Um, remember the turd you made last week?!” Sean is right – she will be led to the slaughter.

spoiler for next week

Losers get brought back to work for the remaining contestants and Korina is paired with Shar (or so we’re led to believe).

I thought she said Peruvian. Whatevs.

Korina seemed so immature. I hope she’s been watching the season and grimacing at her behaviour.

I also am glad to see Korina go. In the exit interview where she suggests Sean designed Char one hour look. :smack:

However I have an awful feeling that next week they will:

eliminate two people and bring Korina back or

someone will decided they must leave and they will bring Korina back

I can’t figure Shar out. After yesterday’s show, I thought, she is like those crappy singers who audition for American Idol because music is their life and what they were born to do. Someone is telling her she is good and she is believing in it. I don’t believe she is a good designer but as she said, it’s been weeks since she was saved and she’s still there.

Then I wonder about the editing. Korina said “This isn’t about you Char, just stop” and it made me think there is more to Char than just the positive person, like maybe she has dished out her share and they are just editing everything to make Korina look like a bitch (admittedly, she gives them a lot to work with).

Then I think I am giving this show way too much space in my brain. :stuck_out_tongue:

The “this isn’t about you, Char” thing was esp. weird since she’d basically just said in so many words, “you don’t deserve to be here, I can’t believe I’m going home instead of you, can ANYONE believe I’m going home instead of Char?” – well, yeah, pretty freaking nuts of her to thing that Corina had just made it about her.

Corina is a nasty person, but I’m not as araminty that she’s learned anything from watching herself.

Now, can we get rid of Amanda now?

“This isn’t about you Char, just stop.”* This is about those damned manipulative producers*.

I think Korina was mainly railing against the producer interference in this instance, i.e. Tim Gunn saves Char again, because she certainly should’ve gone home for that horrible hot pants and peplum outfit with a gaping zipper.

Ranting about producer fuckery will always get edited out.

No one thinks Char should still be there, not the designers, not the fans. Everyone acknowledges she’s a pleasant person but her design/construction skills are not up to par. Neither was Anya’s but she had a fantastic eye for fabric and drama (it kills me to say this). As Kors used to say, it’s not Project Seamstress. People like Anya can hire pattern makers and seamstresses to build her line; Char design sense is very middle-of-the-road mall, nothing special or interesting and there are plenty of middle-of-the-road designers.

I think if they’d had to make a one-hour garment without help, Char would’ve been the loser; she was heading for Coochieville again when Sean dissuaded her.

Undoubtably Korina was rude to Char, though and next week looks like more of the same, according to the previews.

Wow, tonight was underwhelming for me. These looks are supposed to get them to fashion week, and over-all if there was anything I liked, it was only part of a look. For example, on Char’s street smart look I loved the skirt, and the top was alright, but it didn’t match. I liked Emily’s second look, but not her street smart look.

I don’t understand the love for Amanda’s street smart look. It looked like a 70’s clown. I also didn’t get the love for Sean’s street smart look. It looked like a uniform with weird slits in it.

As for who moves on for fashion week, Kini and Sean were no brainers. I had no idea who else would move on, or who deserved to move on. When it turned out that Emily was the only one not moving on I felt bad for her. It must suck being the only one who’s out.

As for who wins, except for this challenge I’ve been loving what Kini has been doing for the last four weeks, and predict he will win.

I swear I will never understand these judges. A folded dinner napkin silhouette is one of the most beautiful things Nina has ever seen on Project Runway? It had no sex appeal at all and just because you’ve never seen the skirt shape before doesn’t mean it is a desirable skirt shape.

And Amanda’s? “Muu-muu” is not a compliment. It just looked so heavy and like so much fabric. Patchwork doesn’t bother me, I’m a quilter for heaven’s sake, but it was just too much. If it were somehow slimmed down it would have been better but still pretty bad. But, I give it to her that she is consistent with her vision.

Kini is the only one I trust and even he messed up by misinterpreting what Tim said about amping up the skirt. But at least he put effort into both looks, and the gown was beautiful.

Shar still in the running? If one of them had to be given a chance to “really show what they could do”, I’d rather it had been Emily. But really, three would have been enough since they are already scraping the bottom with Amanda.

ETA: Emily needs to win for Miss Congeniality. What a sweetheart to stick around and be truly happy for the people that made it.

I liked Emily, but she never really showed much throughout the season. Char has been in that same space. (Nina: she’s stepped it up since her save. Really?) Once Korina was out, it was pretty much a given that Kini, Sean, and Amanda would make it. I don’t think Char will make it to the finale; I’m expecting them to do their standard elimination of one designer before the runway show.

Why’s Char there again? I’m sure she’ll make a good living in one-on-one dressmaking or maybe working for a chain store (nothing wrong with that) she’s not an original enough or gifted enough designer to have ANY chance of winning so you don’t have drama, and Kini is… I’m assuming Polynesian, but he’s not white, so I don’t think keeping Char is to hedge against racism allegations (not with all the truly talented black designers they’ve had on the show).
They must have edited something out with her that explains the appeal.

(Did anybody else think she was transgender at first, btw? I’m not being snarky or judging, I just honestly thought she was until I read an interview with her.)

Yes, absolutely.

At this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if they tie themselves in knots force a Char or Amanda win just to feed one of the two producer narratives: The Redemption of Amanda, and The Tim Gunn Save Has Perpetual Immunity.

Though as of now, I’m rooting for Kini.

Early on I did, but about half way through the season I figured out that she was actually born physically a woman.

Me too, but I can see your first point. When that Muppet woman won over Mondo, it proved anything can happen.

I didn’t comment here after last week’s show, and i almost didn’t bother again this week because, to be quite honest, i barely find the show interesting enough to talk about anymore. It’s a diverting enough way to spend an hour, but that’s it.

Yawn.

And the product placement over the past few seasons has gotten increasingly irksome.

Man, I can’t believe they didn’t send Char home.

And yeah, Sean’s remake of the devil baby romper was ugly, but what the hell was he supposed to do with it?

When Sean picked out more of the devil baby fabric at Mood, I could hear warning sirens blaring.

There didn’t seem to be any parameters about how much of the orig garment to use, to wit, Char picking Korina’s poncho wrap and then only using a tiny bit as an add-on and not getting any flack that we saw. In fact the judges seemed bored with the whole 2nd challenge.

So Sean was lucky. I would’ve picked a fabric that neutralized that peach, or used it for a lining, or painted over it or dyed it.

I feel bad for Char because I don’t think there’s a single viewer outside of her family who thinks she deserves to still be there. It was cruel to keep her on and if she’s reading about the show online, now she knows.

Emily. I wasn’t a big fan of her work but appreciate that she stayed out of the drama. I LOVED the blue print fabric she bought for the skirt of the Loser outfit and wish she hadn’t cut it short. Not that it would’ve made a difference, that bustier was always going to dictate the look. She should have cut off the bustier and used the skirt fabric to make something else. But she was so in love with her street garment. To me, it read like pajamas and the hoodie coat just dragged it down. Oh well, I’ve seen her final collection and except for a couple pieces, I thought it was terrible.
