Project Runway 13

I think Sandhya has photos of the judges. Together in one big compromising position.

Amanda’s dress belonged in the bottom three. Ugly, not particularly avant garde, and falling apart on the runway.

If Sandhya couldn’t lose this challenge, I guess Fade (do you think he might be an atheist?) deserved the loss in this challenge alone. I wish they’d taken into consideration the body of his work so far.

Emily’s dress looked like generic avant garde. But at least it was avant garde, as compared to Fade’s look.

Kini’s was spectacular, and I loved the hat and thought the model really worked it.

Sean’s was cool and I’m glad it worked for him. The dress was blah but the surprise was neat.

Char’s did nothing for me. I agree with everyone who says they wished Tim had saved his Save.

Korina’s was a LBD with stuff glued on. Totally Halloween costume.

:stuck_out_tongue: I think one of his shirts said “Make It Stop!” and I wondered if that was from Fashion Police Gotta Have It/Make It Stop.

Yeah, it was definitely a tone-deaf comment in the context of the conversation. I said exactly that to my wife during the show.

On the one hand, splitting the win was a bit of a cop-out, but on the other it was also probably a reasonable call, given that it’s really very difficult to compare the two garments in terms of design, execution, and runway concept.

I was a little taken aback to hear Sean, in one of his interviews during the show, say that Kini “might struggle with taste,” and basically suggest that it is only Kini’s speed and sewing ability that will see him through. That’s crap. Kini has plenty of taste, and he has made some really great stuff.

Korina was lucky she had immunity; that thing was ugly. She should have stuck with her original “thunderbird” design.

Count me among those getting increasingly annoyed with the contrived product plugs during the show. The thing with Kini and Fade and the refrigerator was embarrassing, and the link between the televisions and the challenge was tenuous at best.

I don’t understand why either of them is still in the running, let alone with a couple of wins each under their belts.

Which one made the comment about wanting her design to be Cleopatra watching her city sink?
It’s kind of like going for Abraham Lincoln watching the blimps blow up Detroit.

That would be Amanda, with the big duct tape eyes that were falling off on the runway. Er, “rainway.”

Project Runway needs to back away from the product placements. They are getting beyond ridiculous.

Sandhya’s outfit was awful. I like her more than most, but that was truly wack. As for the tone-deaf comment, I give her a break for possible cross-cultural misunderstanding. Tone is the hardest thing to get when you are raised in a different culture.

When others are complaining about being dinged for something and someone else pipes up and says “I’ve never been dinged for that because I am the most special snowflake of them all!” it is a bit insensitive. I also had a roll-eye moment in that preview when she cries about someone else not having compassion, it’s a pot vs kettle moment.

And in case it wasn’t obvious I also dislike Sandiya and her clown clothes and I actually used to be a clown! Her voice grates on me, too, and it’s not the accent it’s the “I’m so special and unique” tone and you just don’t understand my genius. She tries to act humble but I think there is a humongous ego there.

Yes, exactly, it was smug.

I remembered seeing a clip of Emily comforting Fade while they were in the sewing room. In regards to Fade, I do agree that Tim’s save would have been better spent on him however I don’t think either Char or Fade really stood out and neither really deserved the save.

I am glad that Kini finally got a win and he deserved it. Even though Sean’s had a major wow factor, I didn’t feel the construction of the dress was all that special, especially when compared to Kini’s. I thought the taste level was a little off, too, because it looked like one boob was about to pop out the entire time. He’s lucky models don’t have much boobage.

I thought this dress was stunning, and far better than anything Amanda or Sandhaya, let alone Char, has done all season.

And don’t forget his dress from the crappy supplied fabric challenge in the first episode.

I just read his bio: East German, self-taught, works as a graphic designer at an ad agency and his exit interview made it sound like he struggled through the entire show and was happy to have made it as far as he did.

The guy was robbed.

Yes, he should stay in for that dress alone.

Although “Fade to gray”? Really? kind of douchy hipster name.

My impression of Fade in this past episode was that he gave up. I think he was really wanted to go home and was ready and he basically set himself up to fail. Remember when he was talking on the phone to his S.O. and said he would be home soon? So that’s why I feel he wasn’t deserving of the save either.

I really think the save should be saved for later on when there are only about half a dozen of them left (or less) and someone who has been doing really well makes one bad dress.

:smack: I didn’t even realize that.

Project Runway All Stars is starting Oct 30. The line up is posted at TLo.

There are at least three designers I’ve never seen before and two more who are vaguely familiar but can’t remember anything about them. And Kate is back. Again.

I liked Chris March, he was fun and kooky and not full of himself, and it’s nice to see someone from an earlier season. I’ll be routing for him.

I wonder how besties Kate and Helen will get along when they are pitted against each other again?

Also like Dmitry a lot, though previous winners tend not to do so well.

I’ll be rooting for Dmitry, Alexandria, Chris March, and maybe Fabio. Benjamin Mach I vaguely remember as being mature and skilled at sewing but he fell apart along the way.

Have no interest in seeing more work from Helen, Patricia, Justin and needless to say, Kate.

I started out rooting for Sandhya but I am relieved she is gone. That outfit really missed the mark in so many ways. But Sean messing up the peace sign on an already stupid outfit? He should get aufed just for that. I thought Heidi would mention Mercedes Benz but maybe with Lexus as a sponsor they can’t.

I was shocked Emily as someone with a kids’ line was in the bottom. I thought the sweater was cool, but maybe it did need a different skirt.

So glad Kini won – if Korina had beat him out I would have had to hurt my TV, and I like my TV the way it is. Too bad he didn’t win when it would give him immunity, but I don’t think he needs it. He’s the only one I can imagine having a classy and cohesive runway show at this point.
I don’t think it’s a spoiler because they didn’t show any context, but next week Tim says something like “It’s the most hideous outfit I’ve ever seen in my life”. Whoa.

I liked Emily’s. I thought the top was cute but she should have reshaped the skirt a bit. I personally would have done an updated sailor suit as that’s really appropriate for girls that age. I thought they were going to save Sandhya. But that was a ludicrous outfit she sent down the runway. The only thing she got right was the color. My daughter is that age and loves pinks and purples.

I hated Kini’s. I’m sorry but fuck the judges. They admitted it was a total Chanel / Westwood ripoff and they gave him the win? As TLO pointed out last week, that kind of derivative knock off bullshit was the sort of thing they would previously send people home for. I’ve been watching this show since the first season and they are totally right. Same thing with Char’s little Cher Junior look. So boring and so cliched! Enough with the fringe already. I would have sent home Sean as well. It was also boring and derivative.

I don’t like Korina but I loved that creative skirt she did. My daughter would adore it. I would have given her the win for it.
