Project Runway starts again tonight!

Yeah but his “vision” involves paratroops attacking Hiroshima which means he needs to repeat a grade before he can advance.

TLo are calling Sandro “Freddy Mercuryovich” which I think is more genius than any of the garments we saw.

I like the new judging twists and More Tim Gunn is always an improvement. I’m not sure I have an early favorite.

I wish they didn’t limit themselves to booting out only one designer.

I totally forgot about that gem what with all the other crap spewing from him. I like to think that’s when his model said to herself “yeah, I’m not doing any of this crap. There’s no way I’m winning this season hooked to this guy so I may as well keep some dignity and just ignore him.”

I like the designers being in charge of their own budget twist. I think that’s going to seriously come into play as the season goes on

I didn’t watch last season because I’ve been basically PR’d out (I feel this more with PR than I do with, say, cooking-related shows for some odd reason). I happened to catch this episode On Demand last night, though, so…we’ll see if I stick with it!

Yay, another nutty Russian! Dmitry and Elena from season 10 were my favorite contestants in a long time. I want all Russian PR!

I liked this first challenge episode more than any. I really don’t like the longer length episodes but it really works to introduce people. I like the changes too, even the gimmicky Tim Gunn save. Maybe not the returning contestant thing so much, but whatevs. Although it was kind of weird how everyone kept going on about what a bitch Kate was and I don’t remember her being any more of a bitch than any contestant. Sure, she had a few snarks in the talking head segments, but who doesn’t? They’re supposed to say that kind of thing; I imagine that the person interviewing them says, “Now can you point out something negative about So-and-so’s garment/work ethic/personality/laugh?”

The little known “Totally Fucked Squadron” that jumped from the Enola Gay has been so largely forgotten by history. They also parachuted wearing tall gold stiletto heels because “why the hell not? You’re not gonna make it to the ground anyway?”

I gave up on PR last season, but you guys are sucking me back in. More Gunn? I’m so there. Tim seemed sort of defeated last season, throwing around “Make it work!” like he was being paid by the catchphrase.

StG

I really liked the changes they made, especially more Tim Gunn. But I was cringing in embarrassment for the poor model with her vajayjay hanging out. She seemed to be ready to crawl under a chair. Having judges staring at her crotch while studying the detail of those booty shorts must have been horrific. Why wasn’t the designer called out more for that?!?!

Right?!

I don’t think most male models would have stood there with the tip of their penis hanging out, and even in a room full of straight women and gay men I would think most she-models are no less modest. They must sign their lives away to appear on the show or she’d have either refused or sued for sexual harassment (and been totally justified if told she had to wear that or leave the show).

Once again, boring loses to bad construction. I’m glad Helen made it through; I think she may have some interesting designs if she can come to terms with the time constraints. That’s also the first time we’ve seen a meltdown during the runway instead of on the runway.

I do wish Timothy would just go.

I didn’t like Kate’s winning dress. It looked like what she described: a hastily thrown on bed sheet. I much preferred Dom’s. There’s something that bugs me about Kate, though I can’t quite put my finger on it. I think it was a mistake to bring back a previous contestant, particularly one from last season.

His comment, in the middle of a fashion design reality show, about how he hated the jewels because they’re “superficial” now has me completely rooting for him to go.

Seems? Not only was he burning butane, but he was burning synthetic fabric and releasing toxic fumes into the atmosphere. And for all his fuss about not using “anything that plugs in” on his model’s hair, he certainly used plenty of things that used electricity himself: the tablets the sketching is now done on, the sewing machines and sergers, the irons and steamers.

I’m still working on how he equates “war captive being dragged while smelling her armpit and wearing a burned dress” with elegant and sexy.
Maybe this week he’ll decide battered woman makeup in torn overalls is the new pixie haircut in a black and white cocktail dress.

Plus he seems to spare not the product in his own hair, and took the high heeled shoes while making her go barefoot. He’s a little douche.

I agree with all of this. Kate’s dress looked like a Cocaine Princess costume.

Timothy is a nightmare. It’s fine to make rules for yourself based on principles you believe in (in this case, sustainability), but his seem arbitrary, and he keeps breaking them! Instead of using organic fabric from Mood, he uses what is most likely non-organic fabric from the trash. I think he said in the first episode he wanted to use no electricity, but where is he drawing the line? Why is it okay to use an electric sewing machine instead of hand stitching? Why is it okay to use the lights in the studio, when he could go outside or to a window and use natural lighting?

I thought Bradon’s silvery dress was by far the best, although I guess I understand not wanting to give the first two wins to the same person. But he should have easily been in the top 3, along with Dom. I don’t know what the judges were thinking with Sandro, though. I thought that looked tacky as hell.

But I thought Karen’s blue dress was the real loser, and it didn’t even make the bottom 3. Not only was it a boring design, but it was really badly constructed too. At least Kahindo’s dress was solidly made.

Agree, agree, and agree. I was stunned when he was merely “safe.” I think he’s definitely a contendah.

Glad to see Dom doing well – always happy to root for a Philly person. (Jay McCarroll went to school about 5 minutes from my house, but other than that we haven’t had a huge presence on the show.)

Classic ProjR: The only thing that can save a crazy trainwreck from being out, is something ‘ordinary.’

Just doing the craziest shit you can think of will keep you safe until the final five.

Kahindo really had a bad case of Bitchy Resting Face. I’m so ready for Timothy to go home. As he said, 3rd times a charm. Helen isn’t going to need therapy after the show ends, she needs it now.

StG

It looked like Helen had a panic attack.

Kahindo forgot the first rule of PR: don’t bore Heidi.

Tim saying something like, “Well, when you’re working with a client, it’s best not to just say ‘Screw you’.” Classic.

I truly thought they would tear apart that green and white thing for being apron-like but once again I guessed wrong. And Sandro’s being in the top? Ugh.
