Project Runway All-Stars Season 4

I have to admit I am getting a little bit excited about a new season. Anything will be better than the ho-hum PR that just ended.

I missed most of it due to family drama, but I watched from the runway show to the end.

Wow, for a bunch of all stars, in my opinion that was awful. I didn’t really care for any of the looks, and even the better looks were just OK. All I can say is, I hope next week they give us much, much better looks.

Yes, that was disappointing. But the part that bugged me – maybe because it’s only an hour, but the runway show was so choppily shown. Front, glimpse of the back, and done! Cut out some of the other chaff and give us time to actually look at the outfits!

Everyone from recent seasons except Chris March? Blah.

Didn’t care for Fabio’s winning look. And thought Kate, not Patricia, should have gone home – the mermaid bra was a bad idea, not just one with execution problems.

I was very sorry to see Patricia go. She’s not really a great fit for either of the Project Runway shows, since she’s more a textile artist and less a fashion designer, but her fabric manipulation is always interesting.

There must be a non-PR niche for what she does. I hope she finds it; I think she’s very talented and creative.

I am happy to see Alexandra go, although the puppets her kids made of Tim et al were a high point of PR. I was just cringing waiting for another pair of droop-crotch pants.

Speaking of one-trick ponies, why would Kate make another set of white boobs after last week? I mean, it was OK but geez, shake it up a little.

That blue thing they liked? I did not get it. And a nail necklace isn’t the feminine they were looking for – I mean they even had poor Zanna look like she came off the Little House on the Prairie set.

Wow, this makes two weeks in a row that my least favorite outfit/designer has actually gone home! I am shocked!

I’m dismayed that none of the designers took up the opportunity to use what the construction guys were wearing. The furry one was wearing entirely too much shirt.

I’d like to see the unconventional challenges slightly retooled where some of the available items are score-lowering booby traps. Tarps are just a lazy way of covering a lot of real estate with crinkly blue material.

I didn’t even realize it was on already! Isn’t there usually a bigger gap between original style and All-Star seasons?

Yes, there’s usually a bit of time between the two series, but this time, they went right from the post-season bitchfest, err, reunion and after a commercial break, it was time for the All-Stars.

Last All-Stars was right after the regular season also, IIRC.

Afterthought from the first ep – I really liked Helen’s dress. And she has been (shown as) uncharacteristically quiet. I am bracing myself for the Very Special Psycho Helen Episode.

I got caught up and I have to say I would really have liked Joshua’s unconventional dress better if we hadn’t just had Sean’s fringe obsession.

And I just now realized I called Justin, Joshua.

Shows how much of “stars” these all-stars are, I guess?

And I just realized I’d successfully translated it to “the deaf guy” after a moment of “is that his name? I guess so, whatever.”

So, is it? I’m unemployed and bored, and while I promised myself “never again” after the snooze that was last season, I’m having 2nd thoughts.:o

I can’t quit you, PR!

It’s a tiny bit better but not as much better as you might think it should be.

Maybe I’ll just watch Top Chef twice.

Last night got a little better but nothing was over the top enough for a Wicked challenge. Helen tried but even Betsey Johnson thought her whimsical creation was laughable. Isaac called it an epic fail.

I thought Chris’s was the epic fail and was relieved to see him go home. However, I don’t see hating his and then loving the one done in two hours for being “raw”. A couture challenge means polished, not raw.

I did love some of the details of the winning look, but overall it was a little safe.
