Project Runway starts again tonight!

Nothing in the news about Swatch.

I can see Tim being upset about Swatch, if that’s what it is. But several of the sew-testants looked upset, too. I can’t imagine that they’d be broken up about a dog they’ve barely met. Of course, these are Project Runway drama queens.

I couldn’t believe when they kept saying how Jeremy’s gown was fitted for a woman’s body. Maybe a post-cancer double mastectomy woman. That bodice did nothing for the model’s boobs.

I really was hoping for a double-auf, especially when Ken said right on the runway “I’m speaking!” and cut what’s her name off in front of the judges, making her point exactly. It’ll bite him in the ass in the end. And panning Sue for not being able to sew while duct-taping his garment was deliciously ironic.

Hey, he had to duct-tape the skirt, Sue had used up all the fabric.

They should get 2 dogs and name them Warp and Weft.

The new dog will be Snapple, TJ Maxx, or The All New Kindle, depending on which sponsor pays more for the placement.

The Good: Swatch is just fine!

The Bad: I can’t believe an outfit that looked like an upside-down mental patient won!*

The Ugly: Justin’s dress. Oy gevalt, was that thing a mess!! I was very happy to see the Tim Gunn Save.

The Uglier: How did Ken’s dress not lose?

The Really Talented: The fact that Bradon was able to pull off something good enough to render him safe given the disaster he had on his hands is a testament to his talent.

The Beautiful: Alexander’s trees at midnight dress. He wuz robbed! That model is just fabulous too.

The Surprisingly Palatable: I really did like Miranda’s. It may not have been the most original thing ever, but it was lovely.

  • I wish I could take credit with coming up with that description, but I shamelessly stole it from one of the bitter kittens at Tom & Lorenzo.

Oh my goodness I cried. And I don’t get the love for the British guy. It was perfectly fine but even the painting didn’t make it that special.

The offputting part for me was the oil slick in nature and thinking of poor ducks covered in oil.

I’m really glad Kate didn’t get any accolades for whatever that thing was. It didn’t seem very natural/organic – not sure we heard her explanation of her inspiration? Dandelion puff wrapped in beetle wings shard?

Drop crotches are awful. I will never understand anyone wanting to look like they’re carrying a load in their pants.

It made the model look like she was approximately sixteen months pregnant.

Alexander’s was probably my favorite, although I agree with Zac that the seam was badly placed. Jeremy’s really wasn’t that special outside of the calligraphy.

I thought most of those designs were all kind of ugly. Nothing really impressed me and I fucking hated Blond Euro’s ugly pants. But I aww’ed at Tim Gunn’s save. Deaf Guy isn’t particularly talented but he isn’t particularly nasty or awful either. I have no problem with him staying.

Tintin! I was trying to remember that character with the red pompadour thing like him. Now I can sleep tonight.

I forgot to mention my favorite moment – Helen saying how she is getting a headache from Bradon doing all that sewing (in the sewing room, how odd) and immediately

RRRRIIIIPPPSSS a loooong piece of fabric for her dead moth dress.
No, that’s not an annoying sound at all.

I DVR this and start watching about 45 minutes into it. I’m glad I do since the auf and save got me totally verklempt. I watched the beginning of the auf, then fast forwarded through all the crying to the save. I agree Justin isn’t the most talented, but he has turned out some very nice pieces in previous weeks and deserves a second chance. That said, he’ll be out in a few weeks anyway. The part of his dress I objected to was the slit up to her hoo-ha.

Ken’s was much worse, with no design and wool??? How heavy could that have been? Karen’s was just a mumu and she should have been out. And WTF was Kate’s dress? The bubblest of bubble skirts. Jeremy’s dress was not that special except for it being bias cut. Who gives a care about writing a love letter on the dress? That’s just schmaltz and would not fly in the real world.

Have the editing monkeys not figured out that the viewers can predict what will happen? From Tim’s workroom critique I figured out who would be safe, who would be in the top, and who would be in the bottom.

With no auf, are we in for a double elimination? (hopefully Karen and Ken, who slightly redeemed himself by saying he and Justin have forged a bond).

I’m starting to think that Justin’s auf and save were producer manipulation. The judges almost always auf the bad and boring before the bad and risky. Ken should have been out. That said, the auf/save was excellent from a narrative standpoint, so it’s all good, IMHO. Unless something changes radically, he’s cannon fodder anyway, but until his inevitable auf, he’s good for the group dynamic, and and I like him. Plus, the thing with him turning off his ears is comedy gold.

Speaking of Ken–that potshot he took at Alexandria was completely uncalled for. He’s a despicable shit-stirrer.

Do you mean the dress or the guy? I agree that the dress was pretty blah, and I’m not too impressed with the rest of his work either. He’s one of the better designers in the group, but that’s about all.

As for the guy…he’s a total dick in the confessionals! IIRC, he doesn’t get involved in workroom sniping (good) but dayum. Seems like some people in the blogosphere are willing to give him a pass because of “that accent.” It’s just a British accent, people! Jeepers.

I meant the part two weeks with them liking his work so much! It’s not bad but it’s nothing to rave about. And he lost points when he kept mentioning the dead grandmother. In-law.

Ken needs to go. I’m sure I’m repeating myself when I say I don’t mind interesting personalities as part of the show, but not this much drama. And his clothes don’t make up for it.

Tim shouldn’t’ve used the save for Justin, who’s a very pleasant fellow but not a particularly outstanding designer. That said, he shouldn’t have been eliminated – Ken should’ve been. Ugly dress, ugly person.

I don’t get the Jeremy hate. He’s not going to be a finalist, but I really liked the dress – more so than the mental patient. It wasn’t that it was a love letter, it was the appearance of the writing. And a very well done bias dress. I thought it was beautiful and should have won.

All I know is if I never hear the word “Glamping” again, it’ll be too soon.
