One blogger’s take on the five best (and one worst) season so far.
"Andrae … "
**I can’t tell you what a relief it’s been to hear other people didn’t like Helen’s winning dress. The best I can say about it was that there was certainly worse out there on the runway. I thought it made her model look like an Amish hooker.
I was also glad to see other people liked Jeremy’s faux sweater, although I agree that it would have been better paired with something other than that skirt. I don’t think I’d have given it the win but I definitely wouldn’t have put it on the bottom either.
I was really starting to question my taste levels until this thread. **
Yanno, the whole “what the hell were they thinking” thing is part of the PR experience for me.
Yeah, Ken makes a heavy dress out of Grandma’s upholstery fabric last week and almost goes home and does the same this week and almost wins.
This is certainly not a season lacking in drama. It’s been a hoot.
I do think that there’s something wrong in the whole process, though. Someone could get into the final four without ever winning an episode; and someone who won three times could get booted off. There’s a lot of VERY subjective criteria. It feels a little better that the judges don’t officially know who did what this year – at least, in theory. Seems to me that watching the reaction of the designers as their model comes down the runway would destroy any pretense of anonymity.
Definitely, although there is some “body of work” weight to it too. I mean they detested Bradon’s “bad bridesmaid’s dress” but I think he was safe based on his work so far. ( And I think he might have been OK if he had cropped the shirt and made a cute pair of tweedy shorts with those shoes.) Sometimes they say “who do we still want to see more of”, which would be based on work so far and not just that night’s disaster.
Dex - I think they’re only having one ep where the judges don’t know beforehand who made the garment, not every challenge.
StG
They’ve said on every episode that the judging is anonymous. However, if they’re looking at the contestants at all, they could easily tell whose garment is coming down the runway.
Ugh. I really wish Ken had been aufed. To be able to make one of those tiny models look pear-shaped is quite a feat.
My favorite was him telling Helen to shut the fuck up you hideous bitch, and then calling his spiritual advisor. Who apparently is doing a bang-up job.
Anyhoo, I like Braden’s the best and I’m surprised he didn’t get any props beyond being safe.
Ken the Whiney Bitch NEEDS to go home. Ok, maybe I need him to go home --same thing. Tim handled him well, but I am starting to think he is off his meds.
Loved Kate’s outfit and wanted to see it win. Agree that Bradon’s was overlooked.
So good to see Michael Kors again! Did anyone else notice that in the runway segment, Heidi’s boobs were not exactly perky?
Yeah go home Ken. He’s a sexist asshole and his designs suck. Why do men who dislike women want to dress us?
I thought Alexandria should have gone home as well. That was one ugly top and even uglier bottom. She’s lucky Heidi liked it.
I just watched the ‘dress to match the shoes’ episode last night due to a DVR malfunction last week, but join in the “WTF?” with the praise for Helen’s dress. My first thought was a variant of the “sexy nun” costume but based on “Witch of Wall Street” Hetty Green.
Ken needs to be put out of everybody’s misery. He has some talent- but he doesn’t even have the downpayment on the “Amadeus level ‘twice-touched-by-God’ once-in-a-generation” kind of brilliance it would require to put up that level of obnoxiousness. OTOH, if he were to become roommates with Crazy Russian Guy and Nene from Real Housewives it would probably be Bravo’s highest rated show. (I personally wouldn’t watch it, but I’m sure millions would.)
I thought Tim was FAR too easy on Ken. Of course, he hadn’t seen the footage from the workroom, presumably. Still, I think Ken needs to be auffed in front of all the competitors because if his temperament. He was sort of scary in the workroom!
StG
The unthinkable has happened. I watched only the last 10 minutes to see who won and who was auffed. I didn’t even watch the runway. I guess I’m waiting for Ken to get his ass kicked off, then I will watch full episodes.
And Ken? STFU.
I can’t believe Helen keeps winning challenges.
There may be some tape on the cutting room floor. I’m not sure about the timing between Tim’s talk with Ken and Ken’s apology in the workroom. Ken was a different person after that.
I’d love to have seen a clip of Tim reading Ken. Maybe on the reunion show.
“Reading” him? I’m confused.
Reaming?
I was afraid to guess that, but it makes sense.
The collections are up at T-Lo (including the decoys so no spoilers there) everybody OK with talking about them?
Until I get feedback to that, I’ll just give this much: I’m shocked to say that Justin and Kate had my favorites by far.
Oh dear. It does make sense. Much sense.
