Not a good use, just the best use of wine mixed with nog. The wine part would add more value than nog, which is highly marginal.
That was my reaction when I accidentally got a smear of mustard on my chocolate chip cookie. A very confused YUM.
When I was a drunk, I would have tried this, because drunks are stupid and are mainly focused on consuming alcohol with little regard to taste.
Being as how you were dealing with a visibly stupid person who was drinking alcohol, consider the fact that they may actually have been drunk.
My first thought as to ‘What was wrong with her’ is that she was basically telling the host not to bother going to extra work or dirtying another glass just because a little wine residue was in the glass - basically signalling that she’s not fussy and doesn’t want someone going to extra trouble for a little thing like that.
My grandmother was like that. it was important to her that people not ‘fuss’ over her, to the extent that she would painfully and slowly make her way up and down stairs by herself on a ruined knee and arthritic hips rather than ask for or accept help. She was the nicest, hardest working person I knew.
I try to think of the most charitable explanations for behaviour I don’t get, especially with my relatives.
Yeah, Aunt is part of that same generation that insists on “not making a fuss” while at the same time constantly acting in a manner that creates as much “fuss” as possible.
