PS2 as DVD player - FFW/Rewind faster than 2x?

My dvd player just died, so we’re using the playstation for now. I eventually figured out how to turn off the stupid parental controls, but I can’t figure out if there’s a way to fast forward or rewind faster than 2x (which is dreadfully slow).

Is there a way to do this without buying the special DVD remote?

Nope. Really lame on their part.

Nope, PS2’s DVD player is as barebones as you get. I’d seriously suggest picking up a cheapo $30 player in lieu of the PS2’s.
