I’ve got in the habit of buying a two year subscription, so if I miss the date, I have a year to re-up.
Oh, and just a reminder: some posters, particularly in Canada, have sometimes had trouble getting a straight credit-card option from PayPal. I found in the past that it’s actually a browser issue - for some odd reason, the credit card option didn’t show up when I was using Safari, but it was available if I used Chrome.
That was a couple of years ago, so maybe it’s been fixed, but just thought I’d mention it.
Do “ordinary” members get any notification that their yearly subscription is almost up? I know I paid a few months ago, but I’ve already forgotten when.
Just paid. this time, the credit card option was right there on the first page, no trouble.
You’re supposed to receive a notification. Since we sent out a lot of nearly identical e-mails, some internet providers end up filtering those e-mails as spam, so check your spam folder periodically.
You can also go to your user control panel (UserCP in the upper left part of the page) then click on Paid Subscriptions (lower left) to see when your membership subscription expires.

Don’t you run the chance of forgetting two years from now? I bought two years a while ago, and now I just buy a new year each year.
I get a two-year subscription every time, but I can never remember in what year it expires. So every April/May, I check. In the odd years, I’m good; in the even years, I have to re-up. But I’ve found that checking annually is a good habit to get into.

So do I. Paying for two years is insurance in case I forget in the middle year.
My Custom Title subscription runs out a couple of months before my membership does, so when I get the notification on that, I re-up both. Suspenders and belt.
