Possibly the greatest *Psych *ever! Shawn and Gus find themselves in the tiny hamlet of “Dual Spires,” an obvious analog of Twin Peaks, with many disturbing similarities. When the beautiful teenage bimbo washes up on shore, dead and wrapped in plastic, you *know *something is afoot!
Superficial parody? Obvious homage? Perhaps. But the craftsmanship is perfect, from the inclusion of so many Twin Peaks original actors (Catherine Coulson, Sherilyn Fenn, Sheryl Lee, Ray Wise, etc.) to the them song re-interpreted by Julee Cruise, to the overall orchestration of the episode’s soundtrack in perfect imitation of Angelo Badalamenti’s original score (I’m still trying to figure out if Angelo was involved), every detail was deliciously perfect!
What did the rest of youse guys think?
I’ve never watched Twin Peaks, so a lot of it was lost on me, but it was a seriously offbeat episode.
I must say, Sherilyn Fenn deserves her own show. She was great.
Speaking as a huge Twin Peaks fan, I thought it was a nice tribute. I had forgotten that Ray Wise was on an earlier episode, but it was very clever how they managed to include him (Ray Wise makes everything he appears in better). Loved the theme and the score.
I never watched Twin Peaks either (I’ve always intended to, now this may give me a good excuse so that I can rewatch this *Psych *later and catch all the references), but I enjoyed the episode a lot anyway. And some of the references I recognized just from them being parodied previously in other pop culture.
I loved Gus’s sympathetic crying during the melodramatic bits. And Shawn having to resort to *Everwood *references since that’s the only show the townspeople watch.
