Psych me up to eat this!

A lady I work with has made us lunch. That in itself is very nice of her. What I am having trouble with is what she made us.

We are having noodles, fried onions, and cream cheese.

It kind of sounds like Haluski, which I like, with the noodles and the onions… But cream cheese??

I like cream cheese, but I don’t think I like it with the others. Does this sound appetizing to any of you?

She’s a nice lady and all, and I don’t want to hurt her feelings, but I also don’t want it to turn into the pie eating contest from Stand By Me.

Please help psych me up for this…

Wooo!

Noodles and cream cheese!

Sounds great!

Onions too!

Yaaay!

Psyched yet?

Uh… I’m sure it will be yummy! :0
You can do it!
Actually, it could be tasty. Lots of odd food combinations work surprisingly well. Give it a whirl, and keep some paper nakpins in your pocket to spit into, just in case.

Amazingly enough, I have eaten that before as a starving college student. It wasn’t that bad really. Not quite good but not unpalatable either.

It’s just cheese, is the way to think of it. Imagine it being melted cheddar or something.

Actually, I have had some Italian dish with cream cheese and pasta - very nice, sort of melty.

Sounds fine to me. Think of it like a weird kind of alfredo sauce: creamy noodles, with the sweet sweet goodness of fried onions.

I’m assuming that we’re talking soft, caramelized fried onions. If they’re crunchy-fried, well, that’s nasty.

I brought in a tuna sandwich. I suppose if I didn’t like it, I could mix in the tuna and just concentrate on that…

Can’t be worse than pot noodle. Can it?

what’s pot noodle?

i’m visualizing a dish of pierogies with sour cream. potato and onion pierogies, to be exact.

{for the unenlightened or those of non-Polish descent, pierogies are a noodle-type dough that can be filled with a variety of things: mashed potatoes-and-chedder, mashed potatoes-and-onions, cooked prunes (yum!), sauerkraut (bleeck–thankfully never offered in our family)}. boil pierogies and drain, then serve with some sort of topper. (my husband even uses salsa.) :dubious:

so if you look at the components that you’re being presented (noodles, onions, cream cheese), it’s not all that far off. and i can assure you that pierogies and sour cream are very, VERY edible.

although browned butter and onions is even better than sour cream.

lachesis

Shudder

I don’t know whether I should tell you or not.

I’m about to eat noodles and fried onions mixed into cream cheese. How bad can it get?

Can’t imagine what could be wrong with cream cheese and onion (even fried) mixed together. Don’t much care for cold noodles though. Will it be a hot or cold lunch?
I hope that_darn_cat ment instant pot noodles (comes in a plastic pot, just add boiling water). Pot noodle sounds interesting, but I’m sure would be illegal in the US.
Cheers, Bippy

this will be warm, which is another thing that is worrisome. I’ve never had cream cheese warmer than room temperature.

The pierogi analogy almost has me there. It also has me stopping off at the store for a bag of pierogis and sour cream. Maybe I’ll deep fry them…

Just try it for Christ’s sake. I never thought I’d like a sushi roll (raw fish? rice? cream cheese?) but now I can’t get enough of it.

This is exactly what I was envisioning. I fried up a batch of potato pierogies with onions and served with sour cream just the other night. Reminded me of grandma’s house, only without the musty smell and false teeth clicking.

Damn. I thought this was going to be an oral sex thread…

Who needs psyching-up for that, KKB?

How was it? How was it?

I was referring to the instant Ramen noodles in the styrafoam cup. Which, of course, taste just like the styrafoam cup. I won’t speculate on the taste of noodles mixed with any sort of psychoactive herbs. Though, come to think of it, it might be rather like peso.
