Psych - season 5 starts tonight! 7/14/10

Just a reminder that the new season of ***Psych ***starts in a few hours. I’ve missed Shawn and Gus and their 80’s pop-culture references! And the lovely Juliet… sigh. Oh, and Lassie.

So watch and then come back and talk about it!

I’m in a different country and continent altogether so I won’t be able to enjoy this season yet but I’m glad it’s still on. Season 5! You go, Shawn & Gus!

This ep was very funny…a distinct improvement over last season, which wasn’t that good.

“I’m parched. Which water fountain may I use?”

Yeah, Gus was on a roll in that scene. Funny episode! I liked their 4-day assistant (hope we see more of him) and how Shawn kept throwing out all the Asian stereotypes he could come up with.

Not really liking Henry’s role with the PD–it’s a contrived plot device to cause conflict between him and Shawn. They had plenty of that already–no need to escalate it.

Nice to see a little continuity re: Juliet’s psychological trauma after almost dying.

I completely agree with this. I suspect we’re stuck with Henry @ PD for this entire season, which I’m not going to like (except for the Lassiter/Henry dynamic, which can be pretty funny).

Other than that, though, so glad to have Psych back!

“You’re saying his name is John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt?”
“Yes, we used to share the name. I change mine because of all the shouting when I went out.”

I agree the writing is a lot better than it was last season. Gus has been getting plenty of funny lines.

Never heard of this show—I’ll have to check it out. I’m torrenting the first episode of season five as we speak.

Yea, I pretty much stopped watching it last season. This was really a drastic improvement. I really liked Sean describing his Easters as a kid.

"Yea, It took me five weeks to close the “egg investigation” "

Doesn’t look like they will, but I was kinda hopin’ they’d keep the put-upon asian assistant. The show could use a new character.

“I speak nine words of Chinese, and six of them are numbers”

I do not like Juliet’s new hair. Good episode though. I sure hope they keep the “shipping” to a minimum this season. I stopped watching because I hates all the Shawn/Jules stuff.

They’re together in real life, so I think inevitably it will happen in-show too. And I, for one, look forward to it.

Glad to have *Psych *back! Very cute episode, including the Chinese credits at the beginning. I expected some references to “Romeo Must Die,” but alas, nothing.

Also - *Psych *seems to be the only show these days (at least, of the ones I watch regularly) that changes their opening montage each season. Burn Notice, Castle, White Collar, Royal Pains, etc., seem to keep the some ones from season to season.

Yeah, I wish Royal Pains would change their opening. That underwater thing is just kind of odd.

The references to Romeo and Juliet, mispronunciations of Han (Jet Li’s character), and Gus’s playing of the race card weren’t enough for ya?

I love it when an episode has plenty of O’Hara and Lassiter. Excellent fun, and fancy moves by Tim Omundson and Dule Hill.

These last two episodes have probably been funnier than anything from last season. I thought the tap dancing was a little too silly at first, but the final punchline made it all worth it.

I also laughed hysterically at Shawn’s and Gus’s “hamburger” scene.

I’m exited! I saw my first episode of Psych a few days ago and now I’m almost done with the first season. I can’t believe I’ve missed this show for so long. It’s a little silly but still fun and somewhat plausible.

I just don’t understand why he bothers with the Psych act. Why can’t he get paid as a consultant like Monk would?

This was a great episode–the repairing of the four, especially w/Gus & Lassie being an oddly appropriate fit (for a while) and Shawn & Jules being very oil & water procedurally. This was also the first one that had Henry’s role make some sort of sense (though I wonder if they have him at the precinct because the actress playing the Chief is scaling back on the show).

Good stuff, especially the dance numbers at the end.

I love the show, but definitely don’t watch it for the plot. The last episode actually had a nice little “mystery detective” touch, though.

Using a block of dry ice to hold down the accelerator so that the evidence would evaporate.
