Pub Trivia in Seattle 2006: Electric Boogaloo

I can actually make it tonight.

Can’t be going tonight, unfortunately, but I’m willing to bet we’ll be on for tomorrow. I’ll check in to see if anyone else thinks the same later on.

Ok, all of you that said you’d make it, to the Emmigrant, I had to play with my foster team again.
Actually, I had a lot of fun. We didn’t do very well. The questions were HARD!
Like: “What was the instrumental theme from Starsky and Hutch?” and “What size is a regulation hockey puck?”(that one was a multiple choice and we got it right.
I dunno.
Maybe, I’ll make it tomorrow too, that is, if anyone else wants to.

I’m sorry, picunurse – I sat down on the sofa around 7:00 last night, and the next thing I know, it’s after 11:00 and Mr. Gazer is waking me up so I can go to bed.

I can’t do tonight, but next Monday looks good.

No Problem. I did the same thing a couple weeks ago.
Hey, if it’s just the two of us next Monday, I’ll introduce you to my foster team!

I will more than likely not be there tonight. I’ve got a five-month-old who’s having her first go-round with major laundry-producing illness and a wife who’s staying home with her. Unless today is a major improvement, I’ll need to be home tonight.

Next week, though…watch out, trivia!

Sorry about last night, picunurse. Since no one except you seemed to really be committing themselves to be there, I was assuming no SDMB presense would materialize.

By the way, if the size of a regulation hockey puck (3 inches diameter by 1 inch thick, weighing 6 ounces) is a tough question, I suggest your foster team needs a Canadian. Though I guess that isn’t necessary, since some non-Canucks, such as myself, do occasionally have that factoid at hand.

So, we’re doing the Old Pequliar tonight, correct? I’ll be there sometime between 6 and 7, depending on how long it takes me to find something interesting at the very-attractive Ballard library.

We’re in for tonight as well.

We got it right! I had a tape measure with me, some one else drew an approximate size and we measured.
The Starsky and hutch question, not so much.
I tried to talk them in to coming to the Old Pequliar tonight. One of them, Sam, is excentric genius. He has more hair than Santa Claus, he’s about 4’10" tall, he doesn’t have TV, he doesn’t drive, and he knows the molecular weight of lead. (another Q. from last night. “Hhow much does a cubic foot of lead weigh?” 708 lbs) His job? he tutors high school kids.
If we combined forces on a Monday, we’d be unstoppable!

So, I will come tonight if I have PROMISES that I won’t be a team of one! See you there.

I’ve seen that guy at the Emmigrant. His team does seem to be one of the few there that truly take their trivia seriously. Still, a Canadian can come in handy from time to time.

Interrobang?!, I’m sorry to hear your little punctuation mark is feeling poorly. See you next time.

I am, alas, no healthier today than I was yesterday.

Fingers are crossed for next week.

Having made my almost-monthly appearance last week (what? you missed it?), I’m unavailable tonight.

Get-well-soons to all the not-quite-wells, and see-you-soons to all the, uh, people I’ll soon see.

I might be able to make it as well. Maybe they’ll have a Verhoeven round this week . . .

And Smurf, Smurf, Smurf, Eggs and Smurf (consisting of myself, Lady Cheek, Saltire, picunurse and lissener) blow away the competition with 64 points. Second place team lagging far behind at 63. We swept the movie round and came out swinging for all the rest.

And everyone got Mardi Gras beads.

S-M-R-T!

Oh yes, we are! Good, that is. Except for our “High fivin’ white guys act”

Hubby hated the onion rings, they were cold by the time I got home. I shoulda gotten him the tacos. Next time…

Thanks for the great time, and the $$$$

Heh. That was fun. What better place to act like a buncha dorks than in a pub full of trivia geeks?

Anyone in tonight?

One week from tonight…

In a very special episode of Pub Trivia in Seattle…

James returns to the Irish Emigrant.

(But don’t miss our regularly scheduled episode tomorrow, where James once again goes to the Old Pequliar.)

In case there was any doubt, I’m going to the Old P tonight.

If anyone hasn’t heard, the quizmaster at the OP announced that he’s only going to be doing this for another 3 weeks. They don’t have a replacement for him, but they’re looking. Apparently (I heard this second hand), the job pays one meal and some beer each Tuesday.

I’ll be there tonight. I may be in the running to replace the triviamaster, so I’ll need to schmooze a little.
