Just heard on the radio a guy claim that only caucasian people have curly pubic hair, while people from asia have straight pubes. Is this true or a bizarre urban legend?

I don’t have the personal experience, but let me register very strong doubt.

Marley, I’d be more than willing to find out for myself, but “Would you like to take a survey?” is not a good pick-up line.
(Thinking back on all the men I’ve loved before, including at least one from each race) I think, while all pubic hair has a certain “kinkiness” that head hair doesn’t have, whether or not it’s curly has more to do with whether or not your head hair is curly, at least in my experience. Although I did know one fella who had straight-as-a-board head hair and quite curly pubic/facial hair. But he was the exception.
Hmm. After some rudementary Internet research, it would appear most females of the Asian persuasian are unable to grow pubic hair at all.

Erm, ok how do I phrase this…
Alright, are we talking the whole of Asia here? Or just the Chinese? Japanese? Indians? I live in Hong Kong, and like everyone else, I frequent public toilets. And with all the pubic hairs I’ve seen lying around (on the edge of the urinal, toilet seats etc) I certainly can’t remember ever seeing a straight hair. So as to whether my field study has any validity, that’s for you to decide.

But seriously while there are degrees of “curliness” no pubic hair is straight.
In fact it of a different thickness,and makeup than all other human hair,i remember seeing a page on this but can’t find it now.
Where in Asia? I have no idea. Anywhere from the Urals east. Like I said, I was listening to the radio and a pop science guy (Dr Karl for those interested) was trying to answer the question “Why do people have pubic hair?” He tends to stall for time by spouting vaugely related trivia while he tries to think of the proper answer.
“blah blah blah…can’t be so it’s easier for people to pick out of their teeth because people in Asia unlike europeans have straight pubic hair…”
I guess that since noone has heard of anyone without naturally occuring short n’ curlies, the guy was a dud. Oh well.
So this thread doesn’t go completely to waste, does anyone know how straight can pubic hairs get?
Not very scientific, but I have seen some Asian porn, and it did seem to me (at the time even, not merely thinking back on it) that the Curly Joes seemed to be a little straighter than other ethnicities.
A side question: Am I the first person in the history of the SDMB to out and out admit to having seen porn? None of this “my ahem ‘friend’ heard about…” nonsense.

Definitely untrue. Everyone in India that I have seen has curly pubes. Never seen straight pubic hair on anyone here.
Hands on research [sub]( and mouth on and tongue on and…)[/sub] says cleary not. Everyone here grows abundant pubic hair.

Hmm. Interesting point. There remains the possibility that the source of my research-- that being this vast ocean we call the Internet-- is somewhat flawed or biased in some way. Maybe the people photographing these young Asian women are choosing only to photograph the ones with little-to-no hair in the pubic region.
This really throws a monkey wrench into my study. But, scientist that I am, I will push forward. I will get to the bottom of this pubic hair debate. I will leave no thumbnail unclicked.
