Public Transportation

Agh! I hate people who do that.

And since I note you’re in the DC area, you can commiserate. I’d like to Pit WMATA’s new coin and bill acceptors in the buses. Why the hell did they make the switch? The old ones worked flawlessly and could handle any amount of change dumped in them at once. The new ones just plain suck my balls.

Oh, so that it. My SO recently caught holy hell from a driver who was claiming that she jammed the coinbox. Anyone who insults the people that use their services shouldn’t be in a position to deal with the public so much.

I took Greyhound once from State College, PA to Washington for Thanksgiving. I am never, ever going to do that again. Maybe it’s because it was the holiday weekend, but they were completely unprepared for the amount of people and I arrived several hours late getting back into State College. Plus, it’s not like the station in Washington is in the best part of DC either. Then, on the way there, there were the idiots in the back being so loud and rude the driver put them off somewhere; I want to say Baltimore, but I’m not sure. Somewhere in Maryland, I think.

I’d love to be able to take the bus and train more and fly and drive less, but it takes too dang long and is too uncomfortable for the sorts of distances I’m thinking of.

Yeah, you have to put the coins in one at a time. If you just dump them in like you used to be able to, you’ll jam the whole thing. It’s this cheap, plastic coin funnel that’s the problem, I think.

And the bill acceptor doesn’t work as well, either. It won’t always accept the bill on the first try like the old ones - even if the bill is in perfect condition. It has something to do with the order things are done in or something.

The driver was a jackass. It’s not her fault they have shitty money collectors.

Erm… it was an accident i didn’t even realise i had posted it.
