Pull my finger for August (monthly mini rants)

She is probably an umbrellaphobe now too…

I wouldn’t open an old, dusty umbrella, that’s for sure.

I generally don’t care for royalty. But her sitting next to and feeding aids patients was commendable.

:musical_note:

When the bugs fell, they fell together
They’re stuck in her hair forever
She said she was an arachnophobe
After this,

Now that she’s freaked out more than ever
Know that no matter the weather
She won’t stand under an umbrella
She won’t stand under an umbrella, hella, hella, no, no, no

Well, for some people …

This sounds like some of the malicious compliance stories. A person does extra work without pay to get a (usually orally promised) promotion only for someone else to get it. Then the drone decides to do nothing beyond the job they’re paid for and management says, “Whuh? Why aren’t they doing extra work?”

Is that what happened?

It’s possible she was promised by my boss’s boss during a skip level, but I’ve been really careful not to promise anything, and so was my direct manager. This employee has a lack of acumen in a couple of really critical areas, financial especially, and she needs to have financial acumen at the level she wants to be.

For example, if you want to be a director, you need to be able to provide margin on a product. Whenever i ask her for margin on her product, she usually tells me what they thought the margin would be in the late 2010s when the program started. When I send it back asking for actual margin, she sends me what the margin would be if we didn’t give our largest volume client a discount. When I send that back along with the formula to get actual margin, she says, “Oh, you wanted the margin based on what the client pays us. I was giving you margin based on the expenses.” What???

I am ranting because tomorrow its September and summer is almost over.

Aw, you’re just afraid that we won’t need suntan lotion any more…

.

Actually, I look at September as an annual Midlife Crisis. Instead of “OMG, I’m turning forty and I haven’t ridden a yak into an all-inclusive beach resort yet!”, it’s “OMG, it’s Labor Day and I haven’t kayaked the St. Lawrence Seaway yet!”

I’ll throw in a rant for a predicted week-plus of over 100 degrees here in Sacramento, with at least one of those days scheduled to go over 110.

And I’ll add to your rant about the California power grid, and them projecting brownouts/blackouts.

Seconded. Winter comes fast and furious up here.

I hear that it’ll be like that in AZ this week, too.

Summer is over in less than 3 1/2 hours (meteorological summer, that is).

But it’s only 6 months till spring!

Since it is now September (depending on where you are located at least) I started a new thread:

Having recently been diagnosed with early-stage Barrett’s esophagitis: yeah, losing weight etc. would be helpful, but you want this monitored due to the risk of it progressing.
