Whew! What a long day!
I still don’t have a resolution to my edema. Per my instructions from the Urgent Care doc, I called my regular physician’s office this morning. They still didn’t have the test results on my thyroid in, but promised that a nurse would call me as soon as they were in.
Half an hour later, a nurse called me, and I went through ALL the symptoms with her. I detailed my diet and fluid intake and told her I was working out three times a week and had been for over a month now. The thyroid test came back normal, by the way.
I found her to be quite condenscending, and when she said “Are you sure your monthly cycle isn’t about to start, dearie?”, I wanted to reach through the phone and strangle her. Instead, I calmly asked her if she had actually READ the freakin’ tel-con with the nurse from yesterday and had actually read the results of my conversation with both the Urgent Care triage nurse and doc. She kind of sputtered. I then went on to tell her, that if she had, she would have noted that my period had started last Saturday and that SEVEN POUNDS in one night is not usual. In other words, water retention is typical for me BEFORE my cycle starts, not during.
At any rate, I have 30 minute appointment with my doc this coming Wednesday. I wish it was sooner, but well, whatever. I just want my elephant legs to go away. It’s not just my legs, but my whole damn body. Why the fuck don’t they just give some damn water pills? This is all very uncomfortable and shoes…jeeze, I can hardly stand to wear them.
When I got home, my daughter told me my doctor’s office had called this afternoon and asked me to call them back. Why the freak they didn’t call my listed daytime number is beyond me.
I’ll call them tomorrow morning and see what’s up. Bah! Sorry about all the kvetching.
I do have some very good news. My daughter received an acceptance letter from the University of Washington - Tacoma. They’re also offering her $1,000 scholarship for the first two years. Woot! I’m so proud of her. She wants to wait and see if she receives acceptance letters from the Seattle UW campus and from WWU before she accepts, but she thinks she may go ahead and go to the UWT campus. This would save us mucho bucks as she could live at home and save us a bundle on dorm/residence hall costs. Whatever she decides, we’ll do our best to get her where she needs to be.
Hugs to everyone.
