Purim -- a drunk (but not Irish!) MMP

{{{flowers}}}

TagFree, the lights are totally adorable! Somehow, though, I don’t think TVMan would appreciate me decorating his house with them. :stuck_out_tongue:

Just finally got caught up here. What a long day it has been and I am exhausted. I feel like I’ve been run over with a truck. I tried to take a nap, but I think I was too tired. Now I MUST MUST MUST price out that wedding.

Tigs, Pratchett is just about the most tolerant and doglike cat ever born–I hear Maine Coons tend that way. We only started him on the harness a few months back but he’s good about it because he knows it means he gets to go outside, which he loooooooves. He walks on a leash pretty well and I’ve been doing some training with him–he comes to a finger snap (mostly!) especially when I’m inviting him outside and when he’s outside supervised but off leash he can be called in or more often herded in by Widget or a human–I use the ball flinger instead of the traditional bullwhip to get him going. I’ve been teaching him to do trained tiger tricks like jumping up on things on command which he does pretty well…mostly. We knew he was unusual from early kittenhood because the SO plays rough and wrestles with him (he LOVES this!) but he never gets serious with his claws or teeth and I can pet him right in the middle of a Daddy-fight but he NEVER mistakes me for the SO; I’ve never been intentionally bitten or scratched by him. The SO has this really neat trick they’ve worked out when play fighting–SO will get Pratchett nice and riled up, then snap his fingers about five feet off the ground which signals Pratchett to leap up, turn upside down in midair and grab SO’s forearm with all four feet and his teeth, dangling from his arm. The SO always catches him and they both think it’s the funnest game EVAR! He and Widget chase each other all over the house and playfight all the time, it’s a stitch to see Pratchett come bounding out of a doorway full tilt to smack Widget’s unsuspecting head as he passes by. He’s a really weird kitteh but we luvs him, woogy woogy!

BTW, Smartypants? Really? :dubious:

Hey, I’ll trade myself for your cat.

I promise not to swoosh my tail in your face!

**Silly **doesn’t do massages. Got to send him to take a course or sumtin’ – but in a while; he’s only a baby! (about 6 months old. But quite the hellion…)

Time to go home! Humpday’s over and we’re on our way to the weekend! Yay!

Pizza was yum! Leftovers for lunch tomorrow.

**FCD ** got the jeans out of the dryer while I was fetching supper - he’s such a good helper! I’m not being snarky, either. He does the dishes every night, and he’ll clean the bathrooms, which is my most hated chore. He’s definitely a keeper.

I think tonight is a melatonin night, and I should probably avoid too much water so I don’t get up and pee, which wakes the kitteh, which leads to all the night play… Stoopit cat.

I’ve read through very very fast.

Sorry about the “just friends”, flower. That’s hard to deal with, isn’t it?

But…but…but…we like our resident troublemaker, beebs.

Does it help to say that I meant to comment on your lights, She-without-the-tag? They’re purty.

Long day today. I’m hoping and praying I can take a 1/2 day tomorrow and then work a full day on Friday (that seems to fit in pretty well with everyone’s schedules).

Hugs to all…

GT

Sorry Lunch, there’s only room for one human foot-chaser and chest-kneader in my bed, and the position has been filled by a very fine candidate indeed.

I’ll keep your resume on file should a future vacancy arise, though.

Home. Making egg salad sammich with radish sprouts, mostly because I felt like having something healthy. There’s a tingle in the back of my throat that better not be Teh Sick, because I don’t have time for such shenanigans right now.

The drugs worked last night. I woke up feeling rested for the first time in a long time. A little sleepy, but not that bone-deep tired I’ve been feeling.

It’s a semi-holiday for me for the rest of the week, as my group will be in San Francisco tomorrow and off on Friday. I should be able to get the budget review done while they’re out.

I get next Friday off. It’s my first real day off since Thanksgiving (being out sick doesn’t count.) I can’t wait. I love 3 day weekends.

Now I have to go back to spending money like a sailor on shore leave. It’s not my money, which makes it even better.

Teriyaki Glazed Meatballs with Pineapple Tidbits

Crudites served with Ranch Dressing

Fruit and Cheese Kabobs

Marinated Tortellini Skewers

Vegetable Stuffed Wrap Sandwiches

Miniature Croissants with Chicken Salad

Floral Wedding Cake

All yours for the low, low price of $9.00 per person plus additional charges as follows:

100-175 people will require 2 servers $150.00
176-300 people will require 3 servers $225.00

What do you think? Sound like a deal you couldn’t pass up?

**CutiePie ** - does this deal include all the plates and napkins and stuff like that there?? Based on what I’m spending for our do-it-yourself wedding, I’m thinking the difference between my costs and your charges are probably more than worth avoiding the aggravation.

Too bad you’re not in Orlando.

No, that’s about the only thing that it doesn’t include. Because this is for one of my relatives, I’m trying to save her some money by having her buy that stuff for herself. I don’t think that she wants any kind of fancy linens, etc. So we’d basically just be buying the same thing and I’d have to mark it up to account for my labor.

Waiter-passed or buffet?

Paper napkins, rented linens or purchased linen napkins?

Does the hall have tables and chairs or is it just an empty room requiring table and chair rental?

Flatware or plastic utensils?

Disposable plates or china?

Who cleans up? If needed, does cleanup include off-site removal of trash?

Are the meatballs cooked on-site, or are they done elsewhere and brought in a rolling hot box so they can be served piping hot, or will they be chilled and served cold? (Cold meatballs…blugh, but it’s better than staph!)
Yeah, I’ve been paying attention to some friends of mine who cater small events now and then.

We’re not going fancy for the tableware, but I’ve still spent over $100 so far. I’ve still got to get tablecloths and some spare napkins just in case…

She should have eloped… :stuck_out_tongue:

Buffet

Whatever they choose to purchase, see above response to FCM.

They have tables and chairs at the location.

Plastic

Same as above, though, I’m guessing disposable.

We serve and cleanup. They have dumpsters for the trash there.

The meatballs will be cooked off-site and transported to the location in a hotbox. Also, they have a warming oven on site to keep them at the proper temperature.

Yes, I can tell.

Thanks for the hugs. I’m OK, now. I was feeling a little disconnected this morning, though. It wasn’t a huge surprise, but it still stung. I think part of the problem is that she didn’t give herself a chance to recover from the breakup with her last girlfriend, and the rest is that I am becoming her best friend, and in her mind she can’t get best friend and lover to mix. that might change one day, but I’m not holding my breath. I want to stick it out as her friend though, so we’ll see what happens. I did update my Okcupid account today, so who knows maybe I still have a chance with someone.

Glad to hear that you are ok now Wallflower.

I got an email from my MIL giving me $100 to spend at Dell. She got a coupon there and can’t find anything she wants or needs there. I have the newest version of Photoshop Elements on my way to me. I only wish I had the cash to buy the full version of PS. But in the mean time, Elements works for me.

I also have a shower in the bathroom!!!

It’s still not completely done, but I have a shower AND a toilet AND a sink AND a kitchen sink. The little details I can deal with being unfinished.

My Ethernet port died, so I had no net this morning. Hugs, drugs, congrats to all.

Hugs, bugs, showers for all.

Whoa, the MMP is slow tonight. Hugs to all - I’ve been tied up online trying to book tickets to Atlanta for May. Mission accomplished, now to bed.

Whew! What a long day!

I still don’t have a resolution to my edema. Per my instructions from the Urgent Care doc, I called my regular physician’s office this morning. They still didn’t have the test results on my thyroid in, but promised that a nurse would call me as soon as they were in.

Half an hour later, a nurse called me, and I went through ALL the symptoms with her. I detailed my diet and fluid intake and told her I was working out three times a week and had been for over a month now. The thyroid test came back normal, by the way.

I found her to be quite condenscending, and when she said “Are you sure your monthly cycle isn’t about to start, dearie?”, I wanted to reach through the phone and strangle her. Instead, I calmly asked her if she had actually READ the freakin’ tel-con with the nurse from yesterday and had actually read the results of my conversation with both the Urgent Care triage nurse and doc. She kind of sputtered. I then went on to tell her, that if she had, she would have noted that my period had started last Saturday and that SEVEN POUNDS in one night is not usual. In other words, water retention is typical for me BEFORE my cycle starts, not during.

At any rate, I have 30 minute appointment with my doc this coming Wednesday. I wish it was sooner, but well, whatever. I just want my elephant legs to go away. It’s not just my legs, but my whole damn body. Why the fuck don’t they just give some damn water pills? This is all very uncomfortable and shoes…jeeze, I can hardly stand to wear them.

When I got home, my daughter told me my doctor’s office had called this afternoon and asked me to call them back. Why the freak they didn’t call my listed daytime number is beyond me.

I’ll call them tomorrow morning and see what’s up. Bah! Sorry about all the kvetching.

I do have some very good news. My daughter received an acceptance letter from the University of Washington - Tacoma. They’re also offering her $1,000 scholarship for the first two years. Woot! I’m so proud of her. She wants to wait and see if she receives acceptance letters from the Seattle UW campus and from WWU before she accepts, but she thinks she may go ahead and go to the UWT campus. This would save us mucho bucks as she could live at home and save us a bundle on dorm/residence hall costs. Whatever she decides, we’ll do our best to get her where she needs to be.

Hugs to everyone.
