Zev - You’re not a Lubavicher, I take it? I “did” Pesach with them once (when I was a student in Rochester NY)… Oy! They very much subscribed to the notion that you have to have 4 cups of wine, but it doesn’t say anywhere that you can’t have more than 4. MANY more than 4. And those additional drinks didn’t necessarily have to be wine, either!

No, I’m not a Lubavitcher.
However, one should have the four cups as wine (rather than grape juice) if one is able. As for the additional drinks, I guess it’s to each his own… as long as you don’t have beer.

If memory serves, it was some (pretty awful! ) Potato-based Vodka…
Someone please tell me $84 is a reasonable amount to spend on work shoes. I have neverever spent that much on a pair of shoes.I’ve been cheap and only doing the Payless and cheapie shoes and since I now stand on my feet for 4 hour classes, they are killing me. These shoes look cute and based on co-worker opinions Clark’s are a very comfy shoe.

Zev, in the last MMP I asked about where people bought shoes online. I was referred to zappos.com and am now just getting around to shopping for the shoes.

Uh-oh! :smack:
I’m not making friends at work today. I told my manager that I would not log on on Easter to check on some stuff that runs on Sat/Sun that we need for Monday. I do it most weekends, and I do resent it in general, and I am drawing the line at working on Easter. She understands, but unfortunately, it doesn’t leave her with many good options. She either has to ask our one other teammate to do it or she has to do it herself. But she’s got family stuff going on and may be out of town. So it’s kind of a mess. But it’s not my mess and I’m not going to back down. I’m not terribly religious, but I do go to church, and I do consider Sunday to be a family day and I’m getting really sick of having to do work every weekend.
McUne, I don’t think $84 is unreasonable for a good pair of shoes. The walking shoes I wear daily were about $64, so I can see a nicer shoe costing a bit more.
I used to buy SAS shoes when I lived closer to a store that carried them. They were more expensive than I liked, but they wore forever and they were soooooooo comfy!!
Dolores–it was me that mentioned Jelly Blocks. If you can get me past level 72 (I think), I’m yours.
What’s up with bb2k?–seems pissier than usual.
Hazel has taken to posting to us in quasi-Korean. Or gibberish. Or both. I hope you’re ok.
You all are shattering illusions left and right–I’ve never seen a Jewish person drunk (seriously). Wait, let me amend that: I’ve never seen a Jewish person drunk on a Jewish holiday. (bear in mind I’m not exactly knee deep in sharing Jewish Holy Days). Kosher wine sounds godawful (sorry).
Happy St Patrick’s Day
$84 is NOT too much to spend on good, supportive shoes. Just think of the $$$ you’d spend on podiatry. MUCH more than $84.
Am home from busy morning at work. Am tired. Have a sore throat and (I think) a cracked filling or tooth). Pain. Cannot drink anything less or more than room temp or body temp. Cannot eat much–hmmm, this could be good. The painful tooth diet. Must take advantage of this.

Apparently, I did miss something then. Sorry about that.

When it’s time to do away with my carcass, I want family and friends to gather for pretty much a traditional Lutheran service, because I like the liturgy and music. When the obligatory stuff is over, I want them to have an Honest-To-Og party, with booze, food, and the whole nine yards. I want them to leave laughing, not crying, having celebrated a life (mostly) well spent.
[/QUOTE]
If you leave a Lutheran service crying, you’re doing it wrong. If you leave a Lutheran service hungry, you pissed someone off royal and probably should have stayed home.
Spaz, who has been to three Lutheran funerals and left all of them laughing

Very interesting OP. I like hearing about other holiday traditions. Maybe we should just have an MMP about holidays and how everyone likes to celebrate them sometime.

eta - I’m all nauseous again - I am going to crawl into bed now
Here is me in my St. Patrick’s Day outfit. I’ll be going to the Irish Lion (a bar) later with some friends and drinking some non-green beer. OK, more than “some.” Even a Jew is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day, I suppose. Even an Irishman is Jewish on Purim, too.
