Pushing Dasies 10/17/07

I was thinkg James and the Giant Peach. It has similar narration, and the same sort of color scheme.

 Thank You.

But, I did, I mentioned and you quoted “She died on the first big trip of her life.”

It feel like either or both to me. It has a Roald Dahl or Dr. Seuss feel and look to it. I keep equating it to a fairy tale and this time they had him as Prince Charming in the end with a dash of Captain Blood and Winnie the Pooh as a side kick.

I am just enjoying the ride and so far, none of the inconsistencies is pulling me out of this beautiful show.

A quirky show that remained consistent within its world was “Northern Exposure”, but it has a lot less magic in it and was much more grounded. It was a bit of an Urban (in rural setting) Fantasy but "Pushing Daisies is a straight out Fairy Tale show. This show might be less realistic then the Hobbit. So, I do not look for everything to make sense. That flower car last week was more bothersome than anything listed this week, simply because that was a piece of technology and made no sense. I still did not let it bother me. Let magic be magical. How high of a standard did you hold “I Dream of Genie” or “Bewitched” too?

I thought his mother died after he revived a fly and it flew out the window, or am I misremembering?

His Mom may have died incidentally. They never confirmed she died because the fly lived.

Jim

His mom died because a blood vessel popped in her head - it was not tied to the fly - and it was ‘some time’ after he revived the fly.

(She had put the pie in the oven, he had played with Chuck, she was sweeping the dirt off of him).

Thank you, I had the impression her death had nothing to do with the fly. I am glad you can confirm it.

Jim

Geez, the set and costume design people deserve an Emmy. The herbalist peddler’s wood box with the drawers? Somebody had to build that.

I don’t buy many TV shows on DVD but I’ll be getting this one. Everything is so pretty!

Yes, but it was right after he brought the fly back to life. And we were never shown what died because of it.

I like to think it was his caused by the fly’s resurrection, because she was the closest living thing to Ned after the fly flew away. But that screws up the parity equation above.

Mom’s death was the only human one the narrator gave a non-Ned explanation for, so I assume he had nothing to do with it.

I was also wondering if the person that died after the minute deadline could be resurrected. It looks like the answer is yes.

So, if he accidentally kills Emerson, he just has to revive him and keep Chuck and Olive and the aunts out of the way.

I don’t think it was ‘right after’ - it was certainly sequentially after - but much more than the minute had passed.

I don’t remember him reviving anyone that died as a result of the minute…

Well, there’s the funeral director.

doh!

:smack:

I knew that - really I did.

I wonder if Ned himself is “eligible” for “selection” as the random proximity sacrifice (hereafter referred to as the RPS)?

I loved Kristin Chenoweth from The West Wing, but I can’t believe that I never noticed her resemblance to Amy Sedaris until now.

I could be misremembering, but the fly was resurrected just as Ned’s mom was making the pie. She set the timer for 60 minutes and put the pie in the oven. Later she dies of the burst blood vessel. Ned touches her and she is resurrected, just as the timer is going off. So I think it’s reasonable to say her death wasn’t a RPS for the fly.

That is how it happened, and during the time the pie was baking Ned and Chuck were playing outside. All of that took much longer than one minute. I’m thinking that was the whole point of them showing the timer and the play daye, to remove any question that her life was traded for the fly because it was obviously longer than one minute. His mom’s death was basically a “normal” random death.

I like this show kind of how I liked the first season of Six Feet Under. Also, Disney = pretty. Pixar?

The Trojan Condom Co must be simply bursting with joy.
