A holiday episode with the return of Oscar Vibenius (Pee Wee) this week. Chuck found out how her father really died so this should be interesting. Ned’s secret may not be a secret much longer…
What the hell does an insurance adjuster have to do with organ transplants?
Not a clue but the heart kid is hilarious.
I think the premise is that the insurance adjuster was the one who decided whether or not someone was eligible for an organ transplant. Which is nonsense, of course, but I’ve given up on expecting logic in the plots of this show. I just sit back and go with the flow.
“Bosom, bosom, bosom. I’m a bosomaholic.”
I adore Olive and Kristin!
Holy crap! Lily is Chuck’s mother?
This is a bonobo.
Helper monkeys are not bonobos.
Other than that (very minor) annoyance, I really liked this episode.
After the first few episodes, I kept telling myself that this is a stupid show with idiotic plots, annoying narration, and characters I keep wanting to slap some sense into.
So how come when I realized that I had missed two episodes because I didn’t have my DVR set to record it when I wasn’t home I went to ABC’s website and watched them on my computer?
Another jaw dropping ending! How long can they keep this up?
Man I really love this show, anyone know when the next new episode will air, and if the show will return for another season?
Another enchanting and wonderful story. Now we have to wait how long for a new episode? I hope they end this silly strike soon.
Have we ever seen a Computer or a Cell Phone in the show?
There was a flashback scene when Ned was 10 and Chuck was 8 and all the cars parked out front were much older than cars you would see in the 80s. I know we saw an electric car and a hummer, but almost everything else about this show is timeless.
I was not expecting the two character twists we got tonight. So he has a daughter. That also leads to his daughter having a mother. I am quick that way.
Speaking of mothers, Charlotte’s mother is completely unexpected. What a bizarre twist.
The one insurance adjuster was Miles(Grant Shaud) from Murphy Brown. The Mom of the sarcastic and caustic boy was familiar, but who was the make the wish woman, she was extremely familiar. Was it the chubby girl from facts of life? (Mindy Cohn I think was her name)
Kinthalis, I understand the show was already picked up. We are stuck waiting on the writers strike for new episodes.
Jim
The facts are these…
The writers for this show need to cross the picket line… NOW.
I recognized her from Big Love she plays Pam, the Henricksons noisy neighbor. I think she also does TV ads for packed salads.
The bonobo thing bugged me, too.
I so didn’t see that ending coming, in spite of the hint the narrator dropped. The look on Olive’s face just about matched mine.
When Ned found Chuck in Olive’s apartment, and they had their heart-to-heart talk, I wanted to give Ned a big hug, he was so sad.
At the very moment that I was thinking to myself that Emerson was becoming kind of a one-note character, always with the sarcasm and surliness, he came out with his big revelation, and gained a whole other dimension. Excellent.
I believe the phrase “life insurance adjuster” was used at least once. That kinda sorta makes sense, especially in light of the one insurance guy who called the heart-less kid a lousy risk–low survivability and such. It’s a weird idea even within the sideways logic of the show, though, and could maybe’ve been made a teensy bit more explicit.
IMDB is quick this week, Corpsicle is already detailed.
Julia Campbell … Emma Newsome (Sick Kid’s Mom)
Audrey Wasilewski … Madeline McLean (Murderously crazy make a wish lady)
Never. Much as I love the show (and this was a great episode), the writers need to stay out until the producers stop treating them like crap.
I half guessed about Chuck’s mother just before it was revealed, but it was still a great twist. The show has some of the best plotting on TV.
Wow! I never saw the Lily revelation coming at all. And that Mermaid was terrific–guess they taped one of those Weeki Wachee swimmers. Wonder if Vivian knows about it. The hard-drinking sister who slept with the husband reminds me of Elaine Stritch in A DELICATE BALANCE.
The interaction between Chuck and Oscar is great–I wonder where that plotline will go.
Loved the Emerson revelation too, and again, sterling work from Chenoweth!
The production values remain high, as I felt cold just watching the snowy unnamed City; I hope it’s as pretty tomorrow when the snowstorm hits my own city.
Is this the last episode made before the strike? Please say no!
It is with much regret that I report, this was the last episode written and filmed.
I too, was bugged by the bonobo thing. I know it’s a fun word too say but that’s just not good enough reason to misidentify the species so badly.
As soon as Chuck’s mother was mentioned in the cemetary and they switched to Lily, I knew what that was going to mean.
Lee Pace was so adorable in this one. I just wanted to clutch him to my bosom and make it all better. I’m watching the Golden Globes nominations right now and he was nominated! And so was Pushing Daisies! Yay!
My commnet was more meant as a show of support for the show and the quality of the writing… not so much a statement for/against the strike itself - I understand the reason(s) for the strike (as much as anyone not directly in the business can) - just wish it was over already.
