Isn’t Lily Chuck’s father’s sister?
Keeping it in the family for a fairy tale?

Ew, I’m kind of hoping that it means that Chuck’s father was not her real father.
Tell me about it! I was so annoyed. Her comments about him came in a series of three, and I’m ashamed to say I broke the cardinal rule about not talking during the show:
Her: “This is Bobo, he’s a bonobo.” (paraphrased)
Me: :dubious: “No, he’s not!”
Her: “Bonobos are the most gentle monkeys…”
Me:  “NO, they’re NOT!”
Her: “…and they’re so great around sick children.”
Me:  “NO, THEY’RE NOT!”
At which point, my entire family, toddler included, threw pillows at me and suggested that I should up with the shutting.
Heck, suspend your disbelief - it’s a fairy tale!
The Aunt’s are Vivian Charles & Lily Charles, so our only hope at this point is that Chuck’s Dad is really her Uncle, but he had a stable home life, so he raised her instead of her Mom in showbiz.
They were correct to throw pillows.

I know! I repeat it to myself over and over but it’s just hard when they mess with stuff in my area of knowledge. sigh
BOSOM!
Not at all. They are her mother and her unmarried aunt on her father’s side:
Lily Smith married Charlie Charles*, who has a sister Vivian Charles.
Lily’s name is now Lily Charles.
*I think that’s the name on the tombstone.
It that conjecture or fact? It is good conjecture, I had the same thought and got a trouble call while I was posting.
Jim
Conjecture, but it fits perfectly. Unless they want to go with an incest angle, but I doubt that.
That kid looked really familiar to me, but I couldn’t place him.
And he looked NOTHING like the image on IMDB.
Anyone else think the same?
It fits with the writing MO of the show. Come up with a plot point that raises eyebrows, and then have a perfectly non-prurient explanation for it.
They were, I now see the error of my ways.
But in my defense, it was DVR’ed, so we were able to rewind it to see what I had spoken over.
ETA:
But haven’t they referred to the two as “sisters”?
I thought their last name was “Darling” :smack: The Darling Mermaid Darlings. Even though I’m positive the Narator has given their names, it just didn’t occur to me that they weren’t Darlings.
It may not have been a bonobo, but the dialogue was clever. And Ned’s little “oof” when Charlie said she had to hate him and she needed him not to be there or she’d hate him more sounded truly pained.
I want to learn more abotu Emerson’s daughter. Do you suppose he started knitting for her?

I took it that Lily was divorced from Dad - and Dad said she was dead to spare Chuck/himself (when she joined the mermaids, she no longer was your mom, from a certain point of view) - I’m not entirely sure that Vivian is an ‘Aunt’ as much as Lily’s ‘companion’.
The bigger question there is early on in the episode, where they were talking about Chuck’s dad dieing, in that Lily ‘wouldn’t hug chuck’ until after Ned came over - that seems strange if Lily was her ‘real mom’ at that point - there’s a bunch to that story we don’t know.
Have they settled the strike yet?
No, they have consistently reffered to them as the “Aunts” -
I had to pick up my son at work, so I taped everything after the first fifteen minutes. I love “word vomit” though. Hee hee hee.
On the inside he is just a big fluffy teddy bear made of mush.
I really enjoyed this episode. It was a sad holiday special and the music in the background accented that very well. As usual I am in love with the sets. If I wasn’t in my last year of college I would switch my major to set design right now.
Another good line, when the last corpsicle was being carted off and dropped and broke in several pieces Ned said, “I’m not touching that.”
Also, I’m surprised that Ned and Chuck both considered reanimating old dead dad because wouldn’t he pretty much be a grotesque skeleton now after 20 some years in the ground?
It’s not unnamed. They live, work and have adventures in Couer d’Couers. The *state[/] (or province - I get a distinct Canadian vibe from the locale) is unknown.
No, Couer d’Couers is a small town near the city.
Literally, “Heart of Hearts”…
Since I don’t speak French, all bets are off on issues of correct grammar.
