Put on your yarmulka...

Alessan,

half the Dopers are looking at your post and saying “shag sammy ack? What the hell does that mean?”

I got two pairs of jeans tonight. ooooooooh. Yet another reason I hate being an adult.
So whaja all get?

Here is a nice page that explaines the history of Chanukkah and the ways that it is traditionally celebrated. I have a friend in NY that is Jewish, so although I knew most of this already, I looked it up for appropriate ways for a goy to send good wishes.

So from a very southern Southern Baptist to all of my Jewish friends out there, I hope you have a Happy and Blessed Chanukkah.

Just wanted to pop in
and wish Happy Hanukkah.

Happy Chanukkah to y’all.

In honor of the season, I direct you here: The Golden Dreydl.

I love klezmer music.

“Hanukkah iz… da festival of lights…”

A freylikhe yomtiv un a gut nay yor!

hopes he got that right

Ah, mixed ex-marriages. This year I am sending my eight-year-old son (currently flamboyantly Jewish ‘cause he can lord it over the one-day celebrants of Christmas)to his grannies’ homes with a tiny portable menorah, a book with the story, blessings and dreidel rules writ large, and 44 tiny candles. Dad’ll carry the matches.
I’m so proud he asked to carry on the tradition away from home. I converted in 1985 and never regretted it. Sammy grooves on the presents, likes the latkes, likes the rule that you can’t work by the light of Hannukah candles…only play.
Hope everyone gets that lovely half-hour of light to play by this year.

Although I’m gentile, I and all my fellow beagles wish you all a Happy Chanukah

Happy Chanukkah, everyone!
