Whoa… heavy!
GL: It was entirely due to this:
You were right about having great comic timing. You placed that perfectly.
Veni, Vidi, Visa … I came, I saw, I bought.
I thought this said “I have a special effects tan”… I was thinking like some elaborate farmer’s tan or something…

ChrisCTP: And I loved your “Unlike other Robin Hoods, I can speak with an English accent.”
Perfect!
And it got me wistfully thinking how we need another movie with Cary Elwes as comic lead…
I can say th’alphabet backwards with 6 martinis in me.
I have never gotten below a B- on a test, quiz, or paper for school.
I don’t have many special talents at all. However, I can:
Accumulate dust in my home quite well.
Kill any living plant (including cactuses) without even hardly trying.
I can watch surgeries on tv without getting grossed out (except for eye surgeries, that is).
I can type 85-90 words a minute while I’m working.
I can watch Jeopardy and get most of the answers right. As somebody else said, I’m great at Trivial Pursuit except for those damn sport questions.
That’s pretty much it. Like I’ve said before, I’m much too boring of a person.

Oh, before I forget, I also give great head
Prove it! I’ll be waiting!
“Look at me! Look at me!”
“Look, it’s Bart! And he’s doing stuff!”
“Bart, quit creating a diversion!”
Ok, whatever. My point is, one of my talents (I think it’s a talent) is doing halfway decent drawings in Windows 3.1 paintbrush, using a mouse. Last night, just for shits and grins, I put some up on a web page. If you want to check them out, they’re at:

(When we got Windows 98 in 1998, we also got internet access, so I haven’t devoted so much time to playing with the new paintbrush, which the dates on the drawings will prove.)

Okay, here goes all modesty…I usually don’t do things like this, but it’s good for the self-esteem, no?
I can sing well enough that I make a good choir member, with an occasional solo.
I have really pretty hair and eyes…enough that I have made men make mistakes when I wanted to.
I’m smart. Not too driven, but smart enough.
I also take standardized tests very well: 1600 on my SAT, 32 on my ACT. Both as a sophomore.
I have skipped a grade. And although this accounts for most of the teasing I get, I’m still pretty damn proud.
I am a really good listener. People confide in me.
I give very good back rubs…
I can generally keep my head for directions. If I know something’s north and east of me, I’ll wander in those directions till I find it…through buildings, across rivers (using bridges, people), etc. And I’ll still keep north and east straight.
I have a good vocabulary. I don’t always use it–people laugh when I use big words–but I do have one.
Generally, I’m pretty good at grammar…I can tell by listening whether something’s right. And of course, that means that I’ve made a grammatical mistake somewhere here. Oh well.
I can pick up the words to a song pretty fast.
I’m double jointed in my shoulders, and can bend my elbows backward. So I can link my hands in front of me, and move them over my head and behind my back, without letting go.
I read quickly.
I have a lot of close friends…slightly oxymoronic, but it’s true.
I have a black belt in Taekwondo.
I can get a shot without wincing.
I have burned in the sun ONCE. Last May.
I’m really flexible.
Well, that was fun.

Damn, Gr8Kat! That was freakin’ impressive!
Okay, I’ve been lurking on this thread, and I’ve read most of the posts, and it got me to thinking about the same things I was thinking about when I was looking at the bio pages af a bunch of online journals. Here it is–I think spouting off about how cool one is is more revealing and self diminishing than people realize.
These posts are so boring and repetetive! It seems that everybody is a Jeopardy/and or Trivial Pursuit master. Everybody got over 1400 on their SATs. Everybody hates math but is good at it anyway. Everybody gives great head and can have 10,000 orgasms a second. Well, if so many people can do all of this stuff, how special is it? Hey, lots of people have memorized all of the words to a whole shitload of songs, and tons of people can draw.
I’m a pretty self-involved person, but I can’t quite stomach this.
I’ve come in the top 4 at 4 different British Championships (chess, chess problem-solving, Team Diplomacy, Roleplaying).
I can touch my nose with my tongue.
Hey Sasami! Nobody’s forcing you to read anything here. And it is obvious that this is a popular thread. If you don’t like it go read something else.
…and the horse you rode in on.
I’m a high school dropout that graduated while in the service and went on to a 3.8 GPA in college.
I won a regional racquetball tournament where my last opponent was my instructor.
I’ve taught a number of kids how to fish.
I’ve held a real koala.
The one thing I’m proudest of, though, is my son.
Sasami, dear
Frankly I enjoy this sort of thread (when properly loc’d in MPSIMS). Threads that allows us to talk about ourselves, our accomplishments, our likes, dislikes, etc. are always popular and appear regularly.
For me, they help flesh out some people with whom I’ve shared regular discourse. This particular thread was well setup by Omni to allow us to abandon the veil of modesty we wear in our world of flesh and blood interactions. It’s been well responded to, and I now know some of my fellow SDMBers a little bit better (they now know me a lot better, I think I was a bit expansive in my response).
Boasting won’t get you far here; this is an adjunct forum and the real meat is out there. I think there’s at best only a few who might fake or parade in here (for very long, anyway). And we’ve had a couple of good humor airstrikes as befits a long thread.
So, while a couple of posters above me apparently experienced a more visceral reaction than I to your post, I’ll say: 1) feel welcome to come and post/read what strikes your interest, 2) understand why these talk about ourselves threads are both popular and useful and 3) so, tell us a little about yourself…
Regards
I have no gag reflex.
so you found a girl who thinks really deep thoughts. what’s so amazing about really deep thoughts?

Is it just me, or did this thread seem to come to a screeching halt after psycat90’s little revelation?
Wonder if her mailbox is full yet?
