Putting images in your posts

Unlike the rest of the SDMB, the Marketplace forum allows images in your posts (but only in your own threads–please do not add images to someone else’s threads).
Including pictures is straightforward. Just copy the web address (URL) of the picture, and paste it between IMG tags.

Let’s say, for example, that I was selling copies of one of my children’s books. The cover can be found at [noparse]http://www.robson.org/gary/covers/blackhills.jpg[/noparse], so I would include this line in the first post of the thread:

[noparse]

http://www.robson.org/gary/covers/blackhills.jpg

[/noparse]

That would include the image, like this:

http://www.robson.org/gary/covers/blackhills.jpg

That’s all there is to it!

NOTE: We don’t provide the image hosting, so you’ll need to store your pictures on an image-sharing site like FLICKR.

At least, we will be supporting images – give us a few moments to tweak it…

There we go. Now the Marketplace supports images!

Will there be a size limit?

Since we’re not doing the actual image hosting, no.

But please be reasonable. We don’t want to slow down the loading of threads by having multi-megabyte images in there. Use a nice compressed format and keep things within reason.

(remove image from post other then the OP)

MOD NOTE

LOUNE, you don’t read too well or something?

OP of THIS thread:

“Unlike the rest of the SDMB, the Marketplace forum allows images in your posts (but only in your own threads–please do not add images to someone else’s threads).” (bolding mine)

Please don’t do it again. Even as a joke.
