I need to type faster also.
(3) What was the result for Leeds vs Fiorentina?
Leeds: No. letters / syllables = 5
Fiorentina: No. letters / syllables = 2
5 - 2
Well, if damage is from the teen satire I’m thinking of, the quote would have to be “What’s your damage?” Jeez, “damage” is just an English word. It coud be anywhere.
Hmmm. I suppose March, May, and August are all bona fide words (that is, playable for Scrabble)… that takes care of that one, hopefully.
Also, I expected to make quick work of #7, but it’s tougher than it looks! None of them can be anagrammed, but that’s hardly a “link.” I tried plugging them into AltaVista to see if maybe they all came from the same source, but guess what… no document matching my query. Most likely the answer involves how they all have at least two examples of some letter or other. And there’s something verrry suspicious about the addendum to “Cheers.” All I can say is, the answer had better not be disappointing!
“Damage” - from one of those Brat Pack movies - 16 Candles?
Three more bite the dust. Sofa King is right for the football puzzle, the score would be 5-2 to Leeds. Wordsmith is right for number four, all of the words except April are words in their own right and I’m 99% sure Avacado has the “Damage” quote, thereby completely solving number 7.
That only leaves 5 and 6 left.
Hints: For number 5 think pub games. For number six, the link is not a particular property that all the words share, rather when they’re put together in the order I’ve put them in there is a link between all of them. Also, if I had arranged the same words in a different order it would have been impossible to solve.
Keep trying!
Also, for number 6 I’m quite fond of putting a red herring or two into my puzzles just to make it a bit more challenging.
The word, as I discovered after retyping the list in Courier New font and staring at it for a while, is Interlink. Read diagonally downward starting from the I in Illustrious. Whew! That leaves #5, and I’m no good at bar games. Anyone else want to give this a shot?
I think the answer to #5 is “blue.”
You run that many stoplights, sooner or later a cop is bound to catch you.
