Python's Meaning of Life: "Christmas In Heaven"

Coming out of “retirement” to ask this one: Who’s the actor doing this song? Is it one of the Pythons with big teeth?

I first heard it played on the radio about ten years ago, and thought “Damn! That sounds like Ringo!” (except for the spoken beginning, of course)

Thanks

Quasi

According to the IMDB Graham Chapman is credited as “Tony Bennett” who would be the character singing the song “Christmas in Heaven.” Chapman is a Python (co-writer of the famous Dead Parrot sketch with John Cleese) and I’m pretty sure those big teeth aren’t his real teeth.

As to whether or not Chapman is actually doing the singing there, I believe so. First because no one is credited as having sung for him, and second because other Pythons (Eric Idle, the guy in the pink suit singing about the universe; and Michael Palin, the guy who sang “Every Sperm is Sacred”) did their own singing for those scenes. I don’t see why they would have Graham perform the song just for someone else to dub the voice when one of the other Pythons could have filled in just as well and done the singing themselves. Or at the very least, they could have brought in Neil Innes who worked often with the Pythons (the minstrel singing behind Sir Robin in Monty Python and the Holy Grail).
