Q About The 'Married…With Children' Episode Where Al Rapes Peggy.

They stood up for each other quite often. It was sort of like “No one else is going to stick up for us, so we have to stick up for each other” kind of thing.

David Boreanaz was on an episode of Married…. He did something or other to Kelly and Al whipped his ass.
Therefore, Al Bundy > Angel.

That’s good, MrMyth. In this way we could draw up a chart of who is the top dog in sitcoms. I once saw one on the 'net, but that wasn’t based on actual encounters.

Well, the only power greater than Let’s Rock Al Bundy is Ripped Shirt Kirk.

If these two were ever to fight though, I’m sure the battle could rip a hole in the space-time continuum.

What about the all powerful Fonz?

Depends.
Is the Fonz hitting on Kelly? If so, he’s going down hard. Remember, Mork from Ork punked the Fonz. Al scored four touchdowns in one game, ya know.

That turned out to be a dream though, the mork thing that is. I don’t think it is a problem hitting on Kelly or even sleeping with her but with breaking her heart. Evidently the Fonz did no such thing despite the fact that he “loved and left” many a girl.

Ah, but there was a followup episode of Mork and Mindy where Mork revisits 50s Milwaukee, and The Fonz recognises him instantly. So was it a dream or not?

I honestly think that it is not unreasonable to talk about rape when Al forces sex on Peggy. I suppose you could make the same argument for Peggy forcing sex on Al.

I’m not actually saying I think this is the case with the episode in question, I haven’t seen it, but I don’t think this is as crazy as you all make it out to be.

Having said that, my instinct is that probably didn’t rape Peggy. Rape has a lot to do with power (or so I’m told) and I doubt Al was truly in a position of power over Peggy. I just wanted to come to Surreal’s defense since it seems to me that a reasonable person could see rape in both Al and Peggy’s behavior on the show.

There are times, admittedly few (for me), when “No” does not really mean no. Any man not on a power trip knows when a woman does NOT want to have sex with him.

Reluctance does not equate rape. Unwillingness does. Perhaps a fine line, but there it is.

I’ve seen virtually all the episodes of Married… but I honestly can not remember an episode where Peggy showed she cared about any of the other Bundys. I’ve seen Al caring many times (as he was the main character on the show), and Kelly and Bud caring a few times (when they have Kelly or Bud centric episodes). Does anyone remember an episode where Peggy actually showed she gave a damn?

That’s a good question, Lord Ashtar. It seems like most episodes ended with her & Al on the couch nuzzling. She did defend him against Marcy and Steve at times, though, or at least joined Al in mocking them.

I have another question - I’ve noticed some episodes where they edit out excellent lines. Perhaps the censors refused to give in on syndication? One that came up just the other day was the HS reunion where Peggy wanted to be queen & the kids show up to bum food because there isn’t anything at home. When that episode first aired I know the kids, in their attempt to blend in with the 1960’s era, said “Turn on, tune in, kill whitey”, but that line was absent. Anyone else noticing this?

This is the stupidest thread I’ve had the misfortune to accidentally find in my life.
The people who throw rape around here are literally part of the problem with society.
I just had to register to say how incredibly stupid and knee-jerk PC thug this is.

People like OP make me want to live in a shack in the woods away from anyone that gets offended by television. Ghouls all of you.

Wrong month for thread.

You are literally ten years too late with this post.

Also, Zombies, not Ghouls.

And I shudder to think what search term he was googling to turn up this thread.

It is. NannyStateNinnies, please come back in February.

Wrong month for the thread, and obviously wrong time of the month for NSN.

What… we can’t discuss RAPE at any time other than February?? Fiddlesticks, I say!

It’s not that we can’t discuss it. It’s just that February is Rape Month. Surely the subject can wait 40 days or so.
