A friend of mine who’s been living in Germany for the past three years e-mailed me the other day to say that she liked my website. She said, “I really like the PDA’s in both your sites.”
Since I have no references to personal digital assistants in my site, I can only assume that PDA is a German term for something more web-like. So what does it mean?
Same as in the US - Public Display of Affection. Kissing in front of the dorm’s Housemother. Gets you grounded.

I imagine even the German dopers among us may need more information here. For example, what’s the URL for the website(s) in question?
Well, PDA means the same thing in German as it does in English as far as I know. Even when expanded out literally to Persönlichen Digital Assistenten it’s the same initials.
Perhaps your friend means they look good on a Palm Pilot? I’m thinking maybe she used German grammar on an English sentence and misspelled a word to boot.

All of the above could be considered Public Displays of Affection. I’m not positive that that’s what she meant, but that’s what I’d guess.
Of course, the pages would both look good on a Personal Digital Assistant, as well, so it could be that, but I doubt it.
I hadn’t thought of those, Flymaster; I’ve seen sites with far worse PDAs on them, including graphic photos. I don’t think she meant the other kind of PDA either, as she’s not much of a techie.
And she still hasn’t replied to my message…
Well, they’re certainly not blatant PDAs, and I wouldn’t have even considered them to be PDAs if I hadn’t gone specifically looking for them, but that’s what I’d guess she meant.
