He seems genuine to me. Most adults who masquerade as teens exude a creepy vibe, and they generally troll in places where they can meet other teens. ('Nuff said.)

I don’t see evidence for this. He comes off as a fairly precocious teenager who’s lived a pretty sheltered life to me. I’ve not only known a lot of those, I’ve BEEN one, and Curtis/Qin seems pretty true to form to me.
Funny. I see no evidence of precocity. I’d expect a half-way intelligent 14 year old not not ask such stupid questions or if they did, to show some interest in the answers.

You can be intelligent as far as “intellectual” subjects go, but clueless socially. Besides, as someone pointed out above, he has Aspergers, which explains a lot.
And seriously, even if he ISN’T a kid? Well, who cares? If someone’s stupid enough to create a personal of a young teen, let them be treated like one.

I hope you’re not directing this at me – I’m not excusing him. I’m just saying that’s why he’s so clueless. It certainly shouldn’t excuse him. (I HATE the whole, “waaah, the rules shouldn’t apply to me – I have ‘insert-disease-of-your-choice’!”)
I think it is possible you are overestimating. The median fourteen-year-old, in my experience, has never heard of half the things Qin has talked about, let alone formed any smug opinions or stupid questions about them.
That’s less impressive than it used to be now that we’re in the age of wiki. Heck, he can just hit ‘Random Article’ until he finds something mildly interesting and with ten minutes’ reading, become a pseudo-expert on the topic.
I’m told that’s how they generate their school reports.

All 14 year olds are idiots, at least from an adult’s perspective. 
Well…that’s too harsh. But lately (esp. when I hang out in gaming forums) I’ve been asking myself…when I was a teenager, was I really that annoying to adults?
The answer is…yeah, probably.
