Yep, just like I thought. On the front page, before you enter the thread, lowercase G’s and Q’s DO look the same. I am assuming the underscore is “eating up” the curl of the G, causing this phenomenon.
Mind your G’s and Q’s!!! 
Yes, the underlining is indeed obscuring the curlly part the g’s tail.
To verify, I set my IE text size to maximum and the curly tail is no longer obscured.
