I think I have caught most of the episodes on BBCA, although out of order, so I’m not sure I really know what’s going on. Anyway:
What’s the deal with Annie? It seems she is still invisible to non-supernaturals, but can physically interact with the world. Is that something she learned over time, or was always there, or can she turn it on and off? More importantly, could she smack someone around and scare the bejeesus out of them? Can she be heard? For reference, in the US version, Sally at first couldn’t interact with the world, but she’s been practicing, and is learning to.
In the series (season) one episode Where the Wild Things Are, Annie whispers in Owen’s ear and terrifies him into confessing. I’m not looking for spoilers, but is there any clever speculation about what she may have said?
I don’t know what your question is and I think there is no answer, Annie is washing dishes and cooking by like episode 4. Yet she still has to take the bus. Sally has to be taught even to hold things and is bad at it right now but she can just “transport” herself anywhere she wants to go, without taking a bus.
Annie has been able to move objects since the start. The bus thing dunno, but there are a couple of possible fanwanks. Firstly, it was just habit, she was taken the bus, cos that’s what she did when alive. Another possibility is that she can only “rentaghost” to places she’s familiar with.
Finally being visible to normals. During the first series she did make herself visible for a while, but it vanished (no pun intended) when she lost some of her confidence. The writers have since brushed that ability aside. In fact the latest series introduces the ability of ghosts to “swaddle”. If they conceal something (or someone) beneath their ghostly clothes it becomes invisible to normals.
Oops forgot about the whisper. Nothing has been said about it, but when George asked what she said Mitchell Shook his head at her. So it must be something about the experience at, or immediately after, death
Was she visible in part of the first series? I only remember her being visible the second when she had that subplot where she got a job in the bar. (Not saying you’re wrong, just that I don’t recall)
I find it interesting how different the two versions have become. IMO the US show’s gotten a lot better since it stopped (more or less) directly adapting the UK show and started heading its own way. Not that I think it’s as good as the UK version, but I’m not completely sold on the direction of the 4th series, so it could wind up surpassing it I suppose.
