Queen experts: lyric question about Another One Bites the Dust

In the middle of this song there’s a part where it’s pretty much a drum track.

Freddie tosses out a few lines that I can never “decrypt”.

Anyone out there a real fanatic who knows what he says?

Thanks.

You mean this part? [1]

[1] This is from memory. I’m sure some one will come along and correct me.

I think I know what the OP is asking about, and it’s not in that lyric site nor in Maus Magill’s post. One part sort of sounds like he’s saying “I’m adopted”, right? (I doubt that’s what he saying)

I do know that if you play the song backwards it sounds suspiciously like:

“I want to go to Guiana.”

I’d put my knowledge of Queen up against most of the world and I’d admit that I never quite knew that one either. Likely Freddie didn’t 10 minutes after he recorded it, too.

Never one of my favorite songs, but I always heard it as “Bite the dust, yeah!”

Of course, it could have been Freddie speak for “I just got boned by another guy and gave him a Cartier watch!”

Awww, take it:
Mine adopt!
Mine adopted!

-shaky shaky shaky shaky shaky sound shaky sound-
bows

Aww take it
Bite the dust!
Bite the dust, yeah!

That would appear to make more sense.

Ah *that * part. Just before Brian starts playing with his new toy. Meaty Beaty Big and Bouncy has it right.

Though I always heard that last line as, “Bite the dust-ah!”

I always sang it as:

I’m not adopt
I’m not adopted

Ditto, though I knew that couldn’t be correct.

Could it be another “fried chicken” where Freddie didn’t think the correct lines scanned propperly so substituted in some gybberrish that scanned better?

Me too. It’s the only Mondegreen of mine that I’ve never had clarified by the real lyric.

Great. This never had enough impact on me to want to care what was actually said. But now I’ll always hear “I’m not adopt… I’m not adopted…”. Damn SDMB.

Thanks to everyone. You all nailed the spot I was talking about - I would hear “adopted” in there too.

Now I have to go listen again with “Bite the dust -yeah” in mind.

The SDMB is the best!

Ok, then… how about a REAL challenge, like Under Pressure?

Hep, THAT’S okaaaaay!

Yes - bring it. I’ve been listening to that one just today - made an itunes mix of oldschool songs that I like after my friend had emailed me a link to a tshirt she has decided to wear to her first day of law school (?) -

So I thought - I haven’t listened to The Who in ages - and suddenly I’m dl’ing Who songs, Pink Floyd, Led Zepelin, Queen, Cream, AC/DC - you name it. This mix is gonna rule!!!

So what’s the lyric question with Under Pressure?
